Well guys here is my story, i need to vent
I was looking at nokia N97's for the gf, we found one for 240 plus ten for postage which is pretty reasonable. So we decieded on that one paid for it on the 30 of september. Stupid me didnt check the guys history (which happened to be 0) anyway i went away on the weekend, got back on monday checked my emails and ebay had said they strongly recommend me to try recover the money as they have removed him, they couldnt say why as it was confidential. I was pretty annoyed and thought i would wait it out to see if it came and i couldnt open a case until the 10th of october (today) so i managed to speak to someone and they said there isnt much ebay can do, becuase i did a bank transfer, they said the best thing to do was contact the bank and if that fails the policewhat are the chances of me getting the cash back

pretty slim unfortunately..
Always best to go with Paypal for the buyer protection crap they offer.
Sorry to hear it happened to you though![]()
F***ERS, never thought this would happen to me, going to bank and cop shop tommorrow, thanks for the reply man. Just a pain in the arse there aren't many honest people anymore, or have never really been
yeah man i refuse to spend anymore than $100 on ebay unless its by paypal or im picking the item up,too many dodgy people on there but ebay dont give a shit
Don't worry mate, has happened to me as well. Expect mine was for $610 and i didn't see a cent of it back. I stupidly done a $510 bank transfer and the rest through paypal, opened up cases through paypal, but never saw any money from Paypal. The Guy stupidly added me onto msn (before i knew it was scam and got me to buy more stuff), when i found out it was a scam, I used his email address to see some of his friends and i added some of them, they gave me his home phone number and i contacted him. He shit himself so much he put his girlfriend on, told me he was going to go look at what his new email address was and never came back. I handed his number to the police, they sent it away to the fraud squad. A few months later we got an email saying he had been caught and now serving a few years dropping the soap in the shower. But like i said I have never seen the money since.
You may have abit better outcome, if paid with a Credit Card they can be traced, fairly sure even with a normal Debit Card they can still be traced.
All the best
Mumbo
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
yeah i just thought it would never happen to me.

thanks mumbo, was given in cash to westpac so they could transfer the money to his account. Hope to god he hasnt cleaned his account or anything
Sorry to hear but it's not uncommon. I don't buy off eBay much and if i do it's only small shit worth next to nothing.
yeah i have definatly learnt my lesson, from now on doesn't matter which site i buy from wether it be here ct or anywere i will be getting more details and not giving and money until i do so.
happened to me to payed $300 through paypal for an item on ebay and the seller, a month after purchase tryed to extort more money out of me saying he wasnt posting it unless i paid more than what was listed in for postge took me 3 months going through paypal to get my $300 back because the seller kept lying saying it had been posted and giving paypal false tracking numbers and documents ,ebay dont give a shit because this seller in germany still is a member and going by his feedback hes tryed to extort money out of alot of other buyers too yet even extortion isnt a good enough reason for ebay to ban this member i never buy anything unless its through paypal or cash on pickup now too many dodgy sellers out there youve gotta cover your arse..
lol, its not that hard to find someone anymore hey, with internet, facebook, ebay, msn, email add', google, google maps, ect, ect its quiet easy. i nearly got ripped on ebay , only $170 thou, but found his miss's on facebook, phone number, address, photo's of his house, photo's of number plates of his car in his drive(google maps 3D).. told him everything i knew and i guess he shit and decided to reply and finally gave my money back ...
banks wont help help ya at all either, even with receipt for depositing it, i wouldnt waste the time or petrol going there (again), they simply cant take money out of someones account without account holders permission.. i try'd and try'd and try'd but they cant do a thing... they cant tell ya there address, cant even tell ya what a initial stands for.. best chance would be to make up some bull shit story about putting it in the wrong account , somehow![]()
Happened to me, payed for a playstation 3 that never turned up.
yeah its all bullshit hey, going to the bank today and hopefully i can do something, if not its off to the police. Is there any way i can track him down, all i have is his or her first initial and last name and all the bank details.
Sorry to hear mate, i lost just over $600 and went to the bank, demanded to speak to the manager, went to the police, and nothing back at all. i had to cut my losses and missed the cash and the item i bought.
All the bank can do is send out letters to the person responsible and give them 7-14 days to comply with what the letter says, but they are not under law to do so. All the bank will keep doing is send out letters and that's it.
SAme with CSA, technically, the person that has to pay child support doesn't have to follow the letter sent out by CSA.......so they told me when my ex wasn't paying thru his employer, under the law, the employer is not at liberty to take anything out of their wages..........a bit off topic, but the same principal.
Good luck with it thou, but i can guarantee you, you'll get nothing out of anyone.

Ask Hakhawk about his E-Bay extraordinaire lol. Somehow i got dragged into it haha.
i got done for $500, not through ebay though, this was a legit website, been operating for 4 years selling water cooling for PC's. anyways long story short, american dollar when up in value sharply, guy couldnt afford to pay the bills so decided not to give everyone their stuff.
there was a huge fuss on OCAU and as a group we all managed to get EVERY personal detail about this guy, address, mobile phone number, hobbies, etc etc. im still yet to go see him though, SA is too far to drive![]()
Buying off eBay is fine. You just need to have common sense. Scammers are quite obvious.
Like CSP said, Scammers are quite easy to see.
Make sure you read the description properly, check feedbacks. If something is too good to be true... it most likely isn't what you think it is. I've bought numerous things from ebay. Haven't been scammed yet. I've spent ~$5000 to buy DJ/PA Speakers, Amps from America & $1000's to buy Car Audio. I buy from sellers that have over 100,000+ sales & 95%+ positive feedback and ONLY use Paypal.
Good Luck with getting some money back.
Deck: Alpine 9887
Speakers: Hertz HSK165 XL
Amps: Audison SRx2, SRx4 & Alpine M350
Subs: 2x Alpine 10" Type S
yeah i am asking for all details before i buy anything. The price was average for this phone though so i thought nothing sus there however i completly forgot to check the trader rating thing, he had 0Went to the bank today and they couldnt do f-all and the local cops said they would speak to their senior seargent and ring me tommorow becuase the person i spoke to said they thought ebay paid you out and then chased it up as a civil matter or something

Hi,Skid Bro
If your bank is different to his it usually takes a few days to transfer over.
But judging by the date today I think unfortunately your money is well and truly gone.
Ebay should be able to provide you with his contact details including his address.
Give it to the cops or pay him a visit yourself and teach him his wrong doings if you know what I mean.
Sorry to hear about your loss and I hope you get your money back.
thanks man, yeah i am not feeling confident cause i transfered the money on the 30th of last monthand i have no bloody idea where abouts he lives or even if he lives in australia. Ebay said i am not covered by thier protection and i will try ask for his details but i dont think that will get me far. Hopefully fingers crossed this senior sargeant will be able to help me when he rings tommorow
Allways check their background. Comments history ratting. Never buy from low rated people. I make it my goal to never buy from people under 50 ratting. @ 100%. Never failed me.
