Help me identify this car.. (no pic)

Trying to identify a car I saw recently, It really appealed to me and I want to turn one into a project car, possibly with an RB30DET under the bonnet..

Description: Was a micro ute, looked like it would have been a hatchback, but without the back and a really tiny tray where the boot should have been. Car was pretty old, would have guessed about 1970-1980ish. looked like a datsun ute but smaller and with a tray probably half the size. This didnt look like a scratch built car, looked pretty factory to me, but because it was de-badged I have no idea what the hell it is.

If someone could help me that would be awesome.

Really dont like those riced up ones there though, yuck! Apparently the 4th most unsafe car EVER on australian roads... wow. Suddenly after seeing these ricey ones, its turned me off a bit.

To easy man. My mate had 1 as his first car it lasted us a weekend the bloke we got it off for $300 was like if you treat it right it will last for ages our first stop was the local motocross track its life never got any better from that point on ha ha ha

I've seen a Mighty Boy - LS2 conversion at a hillclimb around here before. No idea how he fit it in, but god damn it was quick.
