I think its $150... but not too sure.
I got dicked about 2 yrs ago on the Great Ocean Rd for speeding (140 in a 60 zone) only got minumum fine (long story) but he also got me for having the rego sticker in the wrong place... I had it on top of the screen just under the tint strip but should have had it in the bottom near the dash.

Technically if the sticker isn't on, it isn't rego'd.
So hopefully he doesn't get you for that, otherwise goodbye $580.

What happens if they don't send you the label at all?

Last year I paid rego and the damn sticker never came, although I had my online receipt which I printed off.

I rang the DOT to find out what the hell was going on - they insisted that they sent it.

I told them no, I don't have it and its now 2 weeks past rego expiry and what am I going to do if I get picked up by the cops, and they said just keep the receipt in the glove box and they will mail me out a new label.

Don't know whether that will stand up or not.

Just bought a new XR6 the week before & on Sat morning, packed the missus & kid into the car and went for a nice drive on the Great Ocean Rd to try the XR out on the curbs... all was going well until I got stuck behind some turkey doing 40kms an hour. I was about 7 cars behind him, so every chance I got, I would overtake the car in front of me.
Well, I almost got to the front, still another 2 cars and the turkey in front to go... I found a nice strech of road with no on-coming cars, popped her into 2nd gear and stood on her throat. I passed all 3 cars @ around 170km an hour and slowed down to take the next corner... as I came around the bend, there he was with his radar, pointed rite at me!
So I pull over, get out the car & light a smoke (by the time the cop did a u-turn, he got stuck behind the dude doing 40km's too hehehe) anyway... he finally reached me and parked behind me... he says, "I clocked you doing 140!" I replyed " I was doing 170 before the bend!" I told him I just bought the car and took it out there to test it out & got stuck behind someone that couldn't find 2nd gear...
The nice officer fully understood and said I could have gotten away and thanked me for pulling over to wait for him hehehe. So he gave me the minimum fine and 1 demerit point, and he got me for the reg sticker :-)

That's complete nonsense. And WA have just gone rego sticker free.

As long as it's paid and current, regardless of whether there's a sticker, it's registered.

In SA you can be fined if you display an out of date rego sticker. I also read we are going sticker free in the next couple of years.

This happened to us too, we paid rego online waited for a new rego sticker in the mail, never came. Hubby got pulled over for rbt cop checked the rego seen it was registered but didn't have receipt no. imprinted on sticker and gave him a warning told him to go to rta and get a new sticker. Stupid thing is on the rego papers themselves it actually says something along the lines of if paying online/credit card you don't need a receipt no. In this electronic age I really can't see the need for the having the receipt no. on sticker anyway, seems stupid, wasteful and costly that they need to send you out another sticker when the authorities could get that sort of information in about 2 seconds if they bothered to check.

Okay, then only repeating what I was told by the officer who pulled me up when I had no sticker on my car.
Frankly couldn't give a toss what WA are doing, its not Victoria and every state has different laws.

Sooo wait.. Yourelf, the missus, a child, Great Ocean Road doing 170? (clocked at 140).. Er... For memory the GOR is a 60kmh stretch of tight windy roads, some of which close to a cliff face?

Am I correct in saying this is extremely stupid?

    Crazy? Definetly!!! But Stupid? No.
There is a strait strech about half way in, thats where I did 170... but def not ballsy enough to do that speed around bends or cliff face.

Lucky haha. I got done at 26 over. 4 points and loss of licence for a month. You lose it at 25 over... that also brings me to 5 points and being on P's Im now on 12 months good behavior. If I get one single point licence is then gone for 6 months

That was coming home from work, rolling down a long steep hill, feet off the pedals, 2am on a tuesday morning, not another car on the road, cops hiding at the bottom with a radar. NAZIS!!!

The police are supposed to follow general guidelines like not setting up a radar 100m before a zone speed change, 300m after a zone speed change, or at the bottom of a hill. But, they are not legislatively required not to set up there. It's more of a goodwill gesture than anything, despite there being no goodwill behind it lol.

I always thought the same thing, or that there is a certain percent reduction depending on the steepness of the hill. Because just say you set cruise control to the speed limit, then you start travelling down a slope. Cruise control wont brake for you and especially if its auto you're going to pick up speed. Or in this case does cruise turn itself off? Never driven a car with cruise so Im not really sure. But still 3 k's over and theres a fine +1 point.

I did enjoy the 5 weeks off work, but this 12 months without one slip up is a bit scary. Mum said she can take any points if I dont actually get pulled over, obviously. But thats not right lol

My probationary period was also extended by 6 months. What a crock of shit!

    EDIT:
