haha I guess I was one those lucky kids, my parents let me drive everywhere. Atleast 30 minutes a day..
Got my L's on the day I turned 16 and then jumped in my old mans manual patrol and drove home no problemIt eventually got to the point where the only time my parents would drive the car is when I was at school, any other time I was there personal taxi driver
was awesome. I seriously think I done the 120 hours in my 1st year.
Yeah mate you nailed it. It always seems to be someone else that pays the price. Hey I got no problem with anyone that wants to leave a set of lines on a remote road but the ones that do it in carparks full of people should be thrown in goal. There should be levels from 1 to 5 of hoonism1 being minor fine and 5 being car crush.
same mate, L's and then P's on the birthday feels good. it was pretty cool to fill out the logbook (approx 150hrs) in 6months, then 18months without needing a logbook, it helped being the "taxi"
but back on topic, does going sideways around bends/doing some burnouts etc really hurt on a remote road around nobody etc.
i was talking a neighbour who said that he reckons it made him a better driver with car control and forth, it made him understand power and what can happen.
it made him conscience of how to drive and to respect the car, and he's had high powered v8s all his life.
hoons should be if your endangering others lives, and your own after an extent which will cause distress
i know eh... just saw this and was like wtf i started this ages ago lolepic thread dig
5 months isnt that bad.. its great when ppl post actual replies to quetions that were fron 05/06.. now thats an epic thread dig.
i dont blame them for fudging their log books, my sister has her L's and they have to do 120 hours now, who has the time to teach someone for 120 hours worth of driving?? its a bit much, they would be much better off with advanced driving courses as part as the licencing process
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
dunno whats so hard about 120 hours, i have mine, just gotta wait until the end of the month till i can get my P's. also have to clean up a few bad driving habits i have, so driving lessons all the way!! lol
how wouldnt it be hard if the only fully licenced drivers you have access to work full time?
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
weekends, try and average a certain amount each week, thats how i did it.

I had been driving for ages and back then you didn't need this 120 hours, you just needed to be on your L's for like, 6 months, but I missed out on my P's by a day then the new laws came into play, so I fudged my log book, screw doing 120 more hours as a learner when I was already at P plate level anyway. My parents just wrote a letter with an excel sheet attached with all my previous times

The 120 hours came after i had my Ls, but before i had my Ps, I didnt think i had to do it, you had to get your Ls after it.
A mate of mine did most of his hours - driving work cars/trucks etc, added in a couple here and there but blah blah shit happens. When he got to Vicroads they knocked him back saying he forged his book ( apparently the signature changed slightly - got sloppier or something).
They gave him a fresh book and he was told to re-do the 120 hours.
He got his license 2 days later from a different vicroads![]()
120 hours isnt that much really
lets do the maths, 2yrs is 104 weeks, so just over 1hr a week to get 120hrs or about 10minutes a day.
as above said, just try to get them drive as much as possible.
also as a tip, just fill in the book to every 5/10minute intervals, it makes it a hell of alot easier to count. my old instructor told me this.
good luck on your licence test elmaso
Drawnnite, youre assuming people are willing and able to stay on L's for a full 2 years? Unless that's part of the Vic rules now?

direct from vicroads, it says 12 months, but how many people really have their L's for less then 2yrs?
so yes i am assuming, but with a logical thought process
if you are under the age of 21, you must have held your learner permit for at least twelve months in the period immediately before applying for a licence and completed a minimum of 120 hours (including at least 10 hours at night) of driving with an experienced driver. You must have recorded these hours in an official Learner Log Book signed by you and your supervising experienced driver.
i did 25 hours in my log book, because thats all we had to do in WA at the time
That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The reason people have them for years is because they can't get the hours up in 12 months. I got 100 hours up in 6 months up here in QLD, had an exemption to get my P's early as long as I could do the full 100 hours. I only managed it because one of my parents worked from from, and at every opportunity i was asked to drive. Most people don't get that sort of time made available to them.
60 here in SA 5 years ago when i got my Ls thats 10night and 50 day or something like that. I added it up wrong aswell. I thought i had done all my day driving but i was 1 minute off and they put me backso i said back in a minute, drove around the block, recorded it and went back in and said there ya go.....
and im not on my full licence no points lost no tickets exept 4 a parking ticket 4 parking on a reverve while doing work for the counsil :S
