so i saw someone posted on ebay they were wrecking a vn, and i need a part, the auction ended about an hour later, then they got back to me and said they had the part i wanted, and put their bank details, said i'd send them a payment.
the parts only like 10 bucks, plus 10 postage, so it's not like i'm shelling out stacks, but what's the go with doing a deal this way, if i transfer they'll have my bank details, and i'm not sure if that opens me up to any scamming.
For $20, why not? Maybe they don't have a paypal account, or prefer money in an account rather than easily-lost cash. If it were a significant amount I'd want to know more than that.
If payment is done outside of paypal and ebay (which because the listing has ended it is outside of ebay) you aren't covered unless you paid by paypal, even then its a shit fight to try and get anymore back.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
i'm not really fazed for $20. more just don't want some random having my bank account if it means he can go all nigerian prince on me and steal my millions![]()
If you're paying for the part, you'll require their account details to deposit into into, not the other way round. I don't see your problem.
Why would you give them your account numbers ? go to there bank put the money in over the counter easy done.
As said above, deposit it in, if you're really worried, as a reference write the ebay number of the listing, write the part it's for, etc.
Might help you the slightest bit getting it back, but i always deposit shit into peoples bank's and just get the stuff delivered.
If your really worried, ask if they will accept an Australia Post money order. I'm sure they will have an Aus Post nearby and its 100% secure to you. Just costs about $5 I think, chest Aus Post website for actual cost.

I don't get it, your putting money into their account, they don't need anything form you except a shipping address. All they will see if funds recieved, the date, and a reference if you give one......
Do they have good feedback? They are probaby simply trying to avoid ebay bullshit relisting fees and final valuation fees. I've done it myself with buyers that contact me after listings have ended![]()
yeah they had decent feedback, i thought their statement or whatever might show my account details, but if it don't then there's no problem.
they didn't ask for my bank details or anything though, just gave me theirs.
thanks all for replies and advice.
