so you can run a different esc and original motor? thats a big motorlots of fast in that one lol
Well the Traxxas one has a heatsink on it, most people do recommend adding a fan, but you would think they would stand up to low speed running without blowing. Mine was on training (50% power) mode when it blew. And only 2 minutes into a battery pack from cold., it wasn't even hot.
And yeah according to the Traxxas forums, you can run the stock motor with the Mamba ESC. And seeing as my motor is virtually brand new, I may just go that route, put the Mamaba ESC in now and do the motor upgrade later.
Well I took my boat for its first run today and it was good fun. I didn't run it with my LiPo batteries but still went pretty hard. I ran it for about 10 minutes and bought it back in. I need to do some adjusting on the trim tabs and possibly the rudder angle but that's for another day. I was going to run it again tomorrow with the LiPos but I spun a bearing in the drive strut.
No pics because my fking camera stuffed up and only gave me a heap of black photos.
For the Slash crew, looks pretty decent, might look into this when it goes on sale and I have a working vehicle

Fitted my RPM arms on my Slash today. Next step will probably be some alloy shock towers.
my front rpm arms are still on there way. along with black 2.22 springs and a set of stampede springs 2.73 i think? just for a trial. finally got my battery charger and lipos worked out. found a parallel balance board from the states with xt60 plugs for $8 just waiting to order extra parts aswell to make it worth it.
My diff oil turned up. I changed the rear on my Slash with no problems but when I pulled apart the front I found that a rubber was split. New rubbers are on order so hopefully I can have it back on the road again soon. The new diff oil is much thicker do it should stop the truck from pulling sideways at speed.
I gotta call Traxxas in the US tonight and see if they can put me in touch with the WA supplier. Been waiting 5 weeks for my LHS to even take a look at my Rustler so I'm gonna bypass them with my Slash and take it direct to the supplier if I can. In the interim thinking I might just go ahead and order the MMP 3800 system for it, and keep the stock ESC/Motor as spares for my Rustler if it ever gets fixed. If I can, just gonna take the ESC into the supplier and hang onto the truck so I can do some other upgrades and stuff while I'm waiting.
Troy, Just asking a dumb question, but what do you get out of alloy shock towers, dont they only hold your shell on?

I have a $5 discount if u wanna use it
If its off road their glued,
Comes off easy if u cut them offhaha
I think its worth getting wheels and tyres so u can mix it up abit
Especially cos its so cheap,
Also, the site is hard to use so if ur looking for tyres
Search for tyres in the search bar and click on any
Then up the top there will be the sub catogory eg: tyres>drift>32mm
Just click tyres and u can choose a section
Hope that makes sence
Lol i seen they look blingin'. i didnt think it would have alot of flex it it anyway. Been giving it a good bash since i replaced the a-arms and loving it. Thinking LiPo soon
Could i ask someone to get some pics of there slash from directly above, i believe i've bent something but i can't workout what... the shell fits just a little tight... i can't work it out.
Lol, jonnoo.
Just found this, Maybe for later, wont be doing much for now though! but thinking it may be a little too much extra weight?
Slash parts
Also, What kind of oil do you put in your shocks? My shocks just dont feel anything like they did to start, they just dont bounce back much.
I ran all alloy on my Rustler when I first got it and it was just a waste of money. It was heavy, slow and because it was Integy (brand) it was weak as piss. A bit of alloy is good here and there but not the whole thing. Actually, it might not be a bad kit but I wouldn't use the A arms.
