    Default CB Options/Opinions

So spending a lot of time highway driving, figured I may as well spend a few bucks and get something better than my handheld with 3km range.

Figured there'd be people here who know a bit about CBs.

Want to get something that is car mouted, slimline, with an external antenna.

    Suggestions? Ideas? Thoughts? etc.

    Cheers

Remember Dyllan who was at a piss-up at my place one time when you were there? He is the red-nut Nazi with the Triton..? I can ask him for suggestions if you like... I won't see him until Wednesday though...

I would only recommend GME CB's unless you want to spend a heap of not needed money.
We use GME in all 4wds and trucks. We have 1 Uniden, and Im not sure if its just the unit or a combination of it and the antenna but its rubbish, but would rate Uniden handhelds highly.

Something like THIS could be what your after.

Has the ability for an external antenna, I would say all/most will.
As for buying an Antenna again I stick with GME, but for no reason here, just match it to the unit. I normally ask a quality sales store that deals with it, which antenna will suit, but on a 4wd or truck it doesnt make a difference what it looks like, so probably best trying instore for something that mounts neatly and is recommended size for the unit.

Id maybe go for a GME TX3440, since it is able to be hidden and also a good UHF.

Remote mount should be a bit better than the full size in the car itself.

Or if you want to scan as well, maybe the Uniden UH015SX
