Fan-F'ing-Tastic. Even at 110km/h the 2 hour and 20 minute drive from my place to my dads can make you fatigued if you get stuck behind a truck/moron/P-Plater (restricted to 80km/h here in Tas) for anymore than 5 mins.

It has been trialed for the last three years in Kingborough in the state's south and the local council says there has been a significant drop in the number of car accidents on rural roads.

Kingborough isn't really a good test municipality, the Kingborough area is more suburban than rural. They had minimal 100 zones as it was.

how about answering my first question better yet, if all you've done is paid attention to media and statistics how does that qualify you to make decisions on this with no real substance other than numbers on paper with unproven methods which may not effect those numbers at all?

ok people seriously..... the system is screwed. Tom Koutzioutonis (however his name is spelt) can be transport minister after his long line of road traffic offenses, stupid p plate laws get introduced claiming they will fix statistics when all they are doing is buying the votes of people who believe P platers are demonspawn after they were PROVED ineffective in the eastern states and then introduced in other states where all they have done is introduced the amount of cashflow in fines without affecting the road traffic statistics.

Unqualified politicians get to make calls without fact on issues of which they have no serious knowledge in the area without thorough research.

I'd rather trust a race car driver to be honest. They know about fatigue doing continuous hours of driving in hard conditions trying to stay safe.

They have experience dealing with harsh tracks, other drivers putting them in danger, car faults putting them in danger, road conditions causing hazards.

A good race car driver would be able to provide valuable insight and knowledge into this kind of subject yeah?

Then why did none of these politicians listen when one of them suggested RAISING the speed limit?


seriously politicians you want to do your goddam job? northern SA's roads are currently ####ed with no bitumen and floods have destroyed or ruined them.
the road between mildura and renmark didnt have lane markers last time i drove it. The road to para is un freaking even pot holes, dented and it looks like its been littered with IED's from the destruction to it.

Yet you have all this extra income from all these nanny laws you've put in place and you dont have the money to fix these problems that are proven CAN solve lives. Yet you can pay to have survey's done, bad websites for the new p plate laws in SA that apparantly cost $5 million to make and doesnt work half the time, or the fact that the new restriction laws in SA and QLD can be beaten if you have enough cash to pay for special permits which again is adding to this fund of money you just never seem to have.

Decent roads and education seem to be a better way to save lives here, screw where the money is coming from, if your serious about saving lives YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO GET RESOURCES.
