    Hey guys.

Just wondering if anyone on here listens to death metal?

Your average person doesn't, but just wondering how many people on here do.

I'm in a band in perth called "Befallen". You can hear us from these -

    iTunes
myspace - BEFALLEN on Myspace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos
    facebook
    youtube - Befallen - Eden

    having a listen

    Nice friends list haha

I like quite a few death metal bands, more fall under the melodeath tag.
Wintersun, amon amarth, Cob, belakor, at the gates, nevermore, bathory, death, Opeth off the top of my head. What do you play?

    Cheers mate

I love melodic death too, Wintersun are amazing as are At The Gates, and Opeth

I play drums and guitar mate, but drums in the band. As you can see we are heavier than most of those guys :P

If you like all those guys have a listen to people like, Insomnium and Kalmah.

    Ehhh, can't stand "death" Metal.

The music is generally shit. And the vocals are just some douche growling.

Closest I come is Slipknot. But they're tame compared to some of the dick heads.

Soops good like that, posting useless dribble, at least CSP made a genuine attempt at humour, which I thought was funny.

    YouTube - Wintersun - Wintersun/04 - Battle Against Time

battle against time would be my favourite Wintersun song. Went out and bought two Insomnium albums, Above the weeping world and Across the dark. Really diggin em so cheers OP.

YouTube - Amorphis - The White Swan
Anyone into Amorphis? They used to be primarily death metal but they've moved more into prog boundaries

I used to listen to Alchemist(Brilliant Aussie band) mainly because the music was brilliant and the rawr rawr yelling matched the music somehow..

Listened to your stuff, the first song on myspace sounded nice with the intro..all down hill for me there.

Now back to listening to the Top 100 Classical Masterpieces of all time!! Bach with Toccata in D minor for the 1635 period

For those who havent heard of Alchemist, here is a small sample of their older stuff: http://www.alchemist.com.au/audio/abstraction.mp3

    Minux, does this count?? haha

YouTube - Rhapsody - The Wizard's Last Rhymes

    Here's the original

YouTube - Dvorak - New World Symphony - 4th Movement, Dublin Philharmonic, Conductor Derek Gleeson

Big fan of classical music too, the Dvorak's new world symphony is breathtaking, big fan of tchaikovsky's march slav and bernstein's candide also. Good taste with Alchemist!

I saw Derek Roddy recently (I already knew about him) but decided to check out his Serpents Rise stuff which you can download for free from his website... It's pretty cool, it's not all specifically death metal but obviously quite influenced by it.

I'm not a huge fan of death metal as most of what I've heard is rubbish, but I really like Nile and the Serpents Rise stuff.

Carcass were a great band. Saw them live in Melbourne about 15 years ago. Shame they disbanded. More grindcore than deathmetal.

Suffocation, Nile, Hate Eternal, Decapitated, old Deicide, all great bands. Check out Anata for something different too. Also Melodic death is absolutely awesome stuff. Kalmah are amazing. Great Aussie band that have sadly split are Pathogen. Atleast i think they split up.

Psycroptic. Cant believe they havent been mentioned yet! Older stuff is absolutely killer.

Disentomb, a Brissie band sort of just making a name for themselves, check them out if you get the chance.
