im just wondering.. i know this sounds stupid and i should really just ask suttons about it but they claim they cant help me because they dont know and the right people to tell me arent in till weds or something. but what im wondering is i own a ve omega and it has 2 1/2 years warranty on it left but i wanted to know if i pull the console and dash apart (centre piece and blaupunkd facia) to paint them black. and sprayed my brake calipers would it give them any reason to void my warranty on any later claims?
It Depends on the warranty conditions. Most will allow you to do simple mods like as you said just painting some parts. But for example if you put a Pod on your car, and your engine craps out, and they find thats what caused the problem, you will have to pay to have a new engine fitted.
A bloke i know put LED tail lights in his new lancer, and came up with a error code on the dash saying bulb blown when not, The shop replaced ECUs, Wiring looms etc, Then found that it was the LED lights causing the issue, So he ended up with a $2500 Bill. Think it would have clicked hmmmm bulb light on when i just replaced the bulbs? Dumb ass lol

it would probably void any warranty on things you remove.
one of the blokes at work put bags in his vz that was under warranty... the only thing that was void was the springs and shocks that he replaced lol... they still covered the rest of the car... that and the interior isnt usually covered by warranty unless its different from second hand car warranties anyway so i reckon do it

something to do with overspray on the disk itself could cause the brakes to be less effective i think...not sure though.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
If you done them properly you'd have them taken off the disc's anyway so overspray wouldnt be a concern. Who told you they are unroadworthy? I work in a workshop and we do rego checks and Ive never heard of that before.
And back on topic, any warranty claim to do with your console/audio system would be technically void if you have removed it all yourself, but it can be decided upon at the discrestion of your your dealer. And as also said, it wont effect the rest of your cars warranty (i.e. if a shock shits itself, they cant deny warranty because you removed the console. lol)
Dunno about the dash but I wouldnt touch the brakes...
I call BS on the painted Caliper theory as well. Have had heaps of rego checks with painted bake calipers and they past without a problem.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
a warranty is an agreement between you and holden. the answer to your question is in the terms and conditions of the warranty.
most (or all) warranties obviously cover design and manufacturing of the vehicle. if that is found to be lacking, then you are entitled to have it rectified by the dealer, at their expense. the only catch is if you have done something to affect the condition of the vehicle, beyond normal wear and tear. if you dismantle the dash and the dash starts playing up, i'd suggest the dealer won't agree to cover repairs under warranty. but if the exhaust falls off, they can't void your warranty on that because of your dash mod.
Never heard of that one.
My old VX passed RWC twice with painter calipers and rotors.
In regards to warranty, best to just ask the dealer. I imagine that if you painted your calipers and then had brake related issues they could turn around and say it was related to you painting them.
Spraying console bits however I would sayyou can do without issue. Not much can be faulty with that. Unless you break a clip or something taking it apart and want a rattle fixed under warranty.
