Okay, every time some other country has a major tragedy or natural disaster, Australia is amongst the first to offer foreign aid, whether it be temporary housing, medical, food, money, whatever.
So, this country has been racked by flooding over recent weeks which exceed historical levels and Queensland is now being inundated far worse than in living memory.
Apart from Obama offering assistance if required, who else is likely to put their hand up to help us, even if we can cope with the problems by ourselves?
Quick guess - none?
Well if any muslim suburbs are disrupted they'll get millions poored into them.
Probably sweet #### all.
Imagine all those billions we are currently sending to Indonesia being used in our own backyard.
From what I have read Singapore have offered army troops to fly to rockhampton and help nz have offered search and rescue helicopters. Don't expect much from anyone else though...
WTF do we need soldiers for?
There's plenty of people around cabable of cleaning up and sandbaggin.
More the cash to do it being the problem.
The kiwis always help out, i like that. apart from that, they wouldn't think we would need much more help than that. our states should be able to offer plenty of assistance. we should look after our own.

Come on soop, the Federal government gave the Pakistanis $75M back in September for their floods and Queensland a promise of $1M in December. Sounds fair to me... Pfft.

I aim to misbehave.
75mil.. and we can't pay nurses.

Its pretty pathetic that even NZ can russle up tree fiddy and a bottle cap. But bigger wealthy countries are to busy with thier own shit.
The bigger issue is our own pathetic Labor govt. that has given away BILLIONS of Australian taxpayer dollars to foreign aid. But no announcement of same for our own backyard.
Joolia today is quoted as saying "damage could be as much as 100s of millions of dollars". Surely that's a joke. The damage will reach into BILLIONS. Factor in everything, the flow on effects for many years to come.
Well look at it like this, now they HAVE to build new roads in that shit hole, Northern NSW has the worst roads in the country. Bar none.
I wonder how many old cars will be washed OUT of the river?

Well, actually, I meant to add that we not only poured vast amounts into other countries, the Feds needed to re-assess our situation immediately and SUSPEND any foreign aid that has not already been promised, until our own backyard is at least back in order.
But it won't happen. Whatever Queensland gets from the Feds, much larger amounts will continue to flow to our useless neighbours in the north.
Gillard just said we'd received offers for assistance for Japan, China, The UN, East Timor, Sri Lanca, and more...

East Timor and Sri Lanka, what are they offering? To suspend refugees boats to us for a while?
Knowing Gillard she properly said we don't need aid at he moment.
