That depends if you would rather give a medal posthumously or not.

    You people make me sick.

    The man is a warrior.
A very bloody good one at that.
They are trained to kill, he did it well.
We praise his skills, and the way he used them.

The same as we praise footballers for doing their job well. Difference is, this guy decided to risk his own life so that you can sit there and bad mouth him.

Stop licking arse crack long enough to get the taste of shit out of your mouth and have some respect.

    What a stupid comment.
This man takes out 3 machine gun posts single handed to defend his mates. A well deserved recipient of the VC, good on him.

This guy is a true hero, risking his life to ensure the safety of ours. And I'd much rather see the people of this nation praising him than the american billionaire who came here to make TV shows to make herself even richer, which is pretty much all I've been hearing in the news the last couple days here in Perth.

Since you are so quick to comment, what would you suggest our troops should do instead of killing when faced with an enemy trying to killed them?

Smile with open arms and sing kum-ba-ya?

Oh course we're going to praise a war hero who may very well have saved his mates for certain death or worse.

Too bad we can't praise those who really save lives such as scientists and doctors with equal vigor. Sure they're killing each other but I don't think their is much honour in it and nobody wins when it comes to war. I don't expect people to agree with me but this is my view and I'm entitled to express it!

That is completely irrelevant to the thread, we're talking about a soldier. I wish their was more people like him.

The VC medal is not for killing people you twat... but for gallantry, conspicuous valor and courage under extreme fire.... All of which you are sadly lacking.

Understood, and I'm one of those people who views firefighters as heroes; but what this man did to save his fellow soldiers was amazing.

If it were up to him, he wouldn't have been fighting, but we have an obligation to help allied countries in these matters.

Nobel Peace price, OAM, Australia Day awards, state awards, national awards, multiple world wide awards. Not sure what you're bitching about here, Scientists and doctors are equally awarded, soldiers rarely get the recognition they deserve and when they do there are always people like yourself bitching about others not getting the same recognition.

As for nobody winning when it comes to war...ehh yeah ok...

I note you are typing and most likely speaking English.

You can thank the former and current members of the Australian military allowing you to be int this situation, primarily through killing people who try to kill them.

Having a day off next Wednesday and enjoying being an Australian? Same deal.

    Pull your head in.

Leaving out the "really" part of your first line, there are many awards which recognize contributions outside the armed forces, one of the highest being an OAM on Australia Day.

To the Soldier in question, congratulations, you are a credit to yourself, your family and your country.
