Has anyone looked at this website before? I came across it looking for any info on my Grandads time in the army because when he was alive he never spoke to anyone about it. My dad knows a few details.. but not a great deal. Anyway, I managed to get a copy of his records that are held my the National Archives and I can get a bit of an idea on where he was an when so hopefully I can look into it further.
The Archives will charge you (I think) $16 bucks to get records reviewed and released and you can find a link to the page on the roll. I encourage everyone to look into their families military history and hopefully learn a thing or two about what these people have done for our country.
Interesting, I just found out my grandfather was in both the Army, and AirForce during the war! Engineers for both.
Like you it is something my grandparents never really talked about, both have since past so it would be interesting to see if I cant piece together what he did for the time in the armed forces.

I've used this site before for a number of relo's. My grandfather served with the AIF and survived the war. His brother also served with the AIF, and was taken prisoner during the Malayan campaign debacle. He died during captivity.
My father in law served in the militia, then the Occupation Forces in Japan after the war, but his father was obviously a glutton for punishment. He served in both World Wars in the Army, overstating his age to enlist in 1915, then understating it to join in 1940. He must have been bonkers.
