rant time from me.
today i was involved in a motor vehicle crash, i was the NOT (see how i made that huge, keep all you haters at bay) NOT at fault driver, was in the middle lane, a person in the other lane didnt check, and simply pulled out from his lane (was stationary) and cleaned up the side of the van. wheel to wheel totaly screwed. now followed procedures, called police, told to get his details, cause no-one was hurt, they didnt worry about sending a partol car, but instead said to go to a police station when able to and make a report that way.
so i rock up to the police station, and im chattting away, and i was told that basicaly they didnt care, and cause no-one was hurt and car's werent 100% stuffed, they wouldnt log a complaint, now here comes the cool part. the AT fault driver was a learner driver in a car, by himself, with no plates on his car. now dont know about other states, but i can only imagine it would be the same, in qld you gotta have a licenced driver beside you when your driving.
that has realy pissed me off. this kid has basicaly got away with driving a car he shouldnt have been driving, and now, he wont get into trouble cause of this. such a bloody joke. licences in qld apear to be a 100% waste of time!!!!!
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
it seems the police only care when they can fine someone
whats the difference between my missus and my blower??
well they both whine but the blower actually puts out
they will still investigate it. had some minor bingles, no cops showed up . showed up to make a report. 3 odd weeks later i either got a fine or a letter stating that it was actually an accident with either fines or warnings.
Thats farked.
In its a straight up fine for neg driving.
Should have smacked the little prick in the mouth and said he ate the bloody steering wheel.
if you're claiming through insurance, he'll get pinged.
Had a SIMILAR scenario (re-read SIMILAR) he he, long story short, the beat officers strolled past the scene and didn't do anything, and the station also didn't do anything, but when all the details went through for the claim, the other driver got charged...
qld cops can be so pharking lazy!
Tell them he was doing burnouts and hit you and watch them do some work.
Ugh, sucky situation, glad your allright from it though, not sure how you didn't slap him and his guide dog around for causing that.
As for the police response, unfortunately it's a pretty standard response. Traffic incidents, which are commonly where 2 vehicles have had an accident, no one is injured and the vehicles can be driven from the scene, won't normally require police attendance. They are normally "easy" accidents which can be written off without requiring any police prosecution or investigation into the matter, and left to the insurance companies to duke it out. Of course, the details still have to be recorded on the system, and when it's discovered old mate was a learner driver and had no other passengers in the vehicle with him, it will require a police investigation as a crime will have been identified and therefore require action.
NORMALLY.
I don't know, sounds like you got the police on the care factor 0 day, where nothing short of some transvestite hooker dripping in blood, high on meth and screaming "Die porky die!" would warrant some sort of response.

I got a sort story.
Few years ago I went shopping only to find my car got smashed into. A note was left on my windscreen by a witness. With driver description, rego and make/model of car.
So filed a report with cops as it's a hit and run. My car was still drive-able as no lights/signals were smashed.
Insurance told me unless the claim is via the at fault driver, I gotta pay the excess.
So for 6 months I am driving around with a badly scraped car until the police call me to say they finally spoke to the at fault driver.
The female police officer had a nice phone manner so I asked politely why it took so long. Turns out in the whole of WA metro area there are 2 staff who followup non critical hit and runs... 2. They followed up a few weeks after my complaint but no one was home so they had to put it at the bottom of the pile.
The story ends that the car was driven by a relative of the owner and his insurance company paid my insurer all fees. But 6 months :-(
PS
The smash repairer left my rear window open in heavy rain and my car stank for a few months. I had to put carpet cleaning spray on my floor carpets every single day or the car would smell of mould.

FWIW, if the accident was caused by an unlicensed driver (L plate with no accompanying full licensed driver is classed as 'unlicensed'), surely that's something the police should be investigating? VicPol don't look too kindly on L platers with no full-lic driver next to them..
your right about QLD cops are lazy, when i had my accident a few years ago we rang the cops and they said exchange details and get the cars towed off the highway..in otherwords they couldnt give a shit. Only reason they rocked up is because we also rang an ambulance because my mate was in shock and had a really bad seat belt rash around his stomach which could have been internal bleeding. As soon as an ambulance is called to a crash scene the fire and cops HAVE to come.
Sticking a Chev badge on any Commodore is like putting a Nissan badge on a VL
EOI....VE SS 18" wheels x4 with 5000k's on new tread, 2 of have very minimal gutter rash (previous owner) otherwise like new send me a pm if interested.
