Dodgy ebay car seller

Ok i just found a VX for sale on ebay

checked out his feedback and saw this

So i noticed he previously bought a VX Cluster with 173000kms on it
looked back at his car add and noticed his VX that he is selling has Shock 173171

I'm guessing this count's as fraud...

Yea im sure it is aye, but i think the kilometres are stored in one the modules eg either PCM or BCM, im not exactly sure but thought thats hopw you have to do it because of it being digital.

Never trust what the cluster says unless you see the service history of the car, that's the only way to be sure klms are legit.

If thats the case, then regardless of the kms on the cluster, the readout wouldnt change.. The kms are stored in the cluster, and its fraud!

who's to say it didnt't have 150k on it when the cluster died and that cluster was really cheap?

2 reasons, he would have meantioned it in his add if the car has less kms than what the cluster listed, he'd be stupid not to.. and he's listed the same amount of kms of the cluster "Has 173,171 currently on it",

So that automatically means it had more Kms?

generally yes if you can make extra cash.

the cluster was purchased in october, now it has 171 extra kms on it from when it was purchased.. too much of a coincidence now its being sold, even if it took them 3 months to replace it.

In NSW, the mileage on a car is recorded at re-registration time as an anti-fraud measure. Is it different in Victoria where this car is being sold? Do other states adopt the same idea as NSW regarding the recording of mileage fopr rego?
