Default Doof Doof - dumb or deaf?

I live on a major suburban road which means I have to live with reasonable volumes of traffic driving past, including trucks and buses. They make a fair bit of noise as you would expect, but that's fair enough. It's what you get for living on a busy street.

There is one young bloke who apparently lives in our area who drives his old Pintara/Skyline (the old late 80's square design) with his Doof Doof stereo playing so loud that we can hear him coming inside our loungeroom, about two hundred metres before he passes the house.

Now, what I want to know is, if we can hear it so clearly from inside well before he reaches our house, how friggin' loud must it be in the car? Is he deaf or dumb? If he ain't deaf yet, he soon will be.

So, do you younger blokes drive with your sound systems cranked up like that? I know from a lot of threads that high quality sound systems are an essential part of your cars and the speaker set-ups some of you show are obviously capable of belting out plenty of volume. Do you drive with them cranked right up or does moderation apply?

    NO!
I hate it. With a passion.
The stereo in my SS is factory and it will stay that way.

Doof Doof, is the lowest common denominator when it comes to music. People rolling around in shitboxes "shareing" their crap music with everyone else should be locked up for reducing the IQ of the general public (even further).

In regards to your question, He's both dumb (clinically retarded) AND deaf...

No, I could never handle driving with the stereo cranked up. Mates used to do it - felt like it was re-arranging my brains and that was just being a passenger. Can't imagine what it would do to your driving ability.

I have a nice sounding stereo in my car - but its for the enjoyment for myself only. Most of the time I just listen to the radio now because I can't be stuffed with cds/mp3s

I have a reasonable sound system (not show spec) but I have it on low to medium (song dependent) in urban/built up areas, if I am on an open highway with no houses I crank it up louder.

It comes down to respect, I may enjoy my music but others may perceive it to be noise pollution so I keep it at an acceptable level where I can enjoy it but it doesn't piss off everyone I drive past.

I think people should be more tolerable of 3 seconds worth of 'doof doof' if I drive my car past with the stereo cranked up. Obviously not in the middle of the night, but during the day it's not like everyone is in bed asleep.

I love bass and I love it loud.

Its not 3 seconds, we can hear your retarded sound waves from 2km away.

Have you any idea how annoying it is to spend hours settling a baby, just to have an arse hat like yourself roll past in your nugget powered commie with the spastic antheme thumping and boot rattling your way to macca's?

Keep your cool, Soop. This thread could have some interesting responses from both sides, let's not turn it into a shit-fight and get it closed.

I don't have anything against a good stereo set up but my Kenwood deck and 4 6" rounds do the job for me.

Some people just like to show off, they like the attention of everyone looking at the car and seem to think everyone is thinking "wow that's so loud its awesome" when in fact they are thinking "what a wanker"

I like bass, used to have a pretty decent set up in my old car and took it out to put in my new one and decided I wouldn't even bother with a sub/amp. It was fun when I was younger but I dont need feel my music thumping inside my body organs to appreciate songs I like.

I had a friend years ago in Mildura, he had won a ton of trophy's and shit for his stereo in his little Mirage. Always doing laps with it turned up as loud as it goes. Fast forward 2 years and he is def, you can yell his name standing right behind him and he wont hear you. He now wears hearing aids since he was 20 and you still have to yell so he can hear you. And.. He still drive around with his stereo pumping as loud as it can.

Im with mattimus i love my bass an i love it LOUD that being said i dont crank it right up so the windows are about to shatter but you will hear me drive past, you wont hear me coming 200m up the road just the couple of secs it take to drive past your house.
now i dont have a show spec stereo by anymeans but i have found that the bass sounds alot louder outside of the car than it does inside go figure.my mate used to have a 15" 1000w sub in an old pintara you could hear him coming from a good 200m till he literally rattled the rear window out at about 80km/h an his dad took it off him arhh fun times.
Take it easy...But do take it...

While i enjoy a bit of loud music with bass, i'll turn it down in residential areas, particularly during typical sleeping hours, to show a bit of respect, and to minimise the chance of people reporting me for noise pollution. Respect them and hopefully you get respected back. If i'm away from residential areas then i might turn up the volume a bit. My system is far from a competition setup, though it is capable of going more than loud enough for cruising.

Regardless of musical preference anyone with their stereo up loud enough to be heard 4 blocks away needs a salami tied to their penis and have the salami fed to a rabid pit bull. I like 'doof doof' music but I sure as hell don't belt it out my stereo. Last time I had my music up loud was at work on a Sunday when the battery in my radio was dead. I cranked up some Metallica and opened all the doors in my van. People didn't even live close enough to hear it but my workmates (only other people on the whole site) said they could hear it plain as day even though they were 10 houses away haha.

I like my music loud, but I cant drive with loud music..It actually distracts me.. I sometimes even turn my stereo down so I can concentrate. Like at roadworks Ill actually turn my music pretty much off..
I like my bass, So I turn it up so I can hear it.. and is somewhat bassy :P
Honestly you couldn't barely hear my music even standing right next to my car..
I think people who go around blasting there music so the whole world can hear is fairly stupid..

I don't have a great system in my car, think it's standard but not sure.. definitely want to upgrade.

Me personally. I enjoy doof doof in moderation, gives me a headache after a while. Give me good rock/metal etc any day.
For a good song I do enjoy cranking up the tunes, singing along or just rocking out whilst driving... But there's a limit.

Descriptive words? Don't make me laugh. You like trying your hardest to personally insult people to gain yourself a better sense of worth

Fact is nothing you say on here bothers me, in fact your lame attempt at baiting me into some sort of angry rebuttal has failed miserably because I honestly couldn't care less about what you have to think!

'The youth of today, blargh' you might be thinking. Too bad buddy, we are what we are. No amount of 'descriptive words' are going to change who I am.
