looking for a v8 wagon, whats the low down ?

looking at probably 2000-2004 for work ! . prefer something with potential and plenty of go !
whats the pro's and cons with the early 5.7L ls1's mate said bore 7 and 8 issues ? anyway, any help on picking the bad bits would be great ! the good the bad and the common issues. whats best model to buy and ones to avoid !

they're looking for fairly large $$$ just because it has a v8 stuffed up front arent they ? is a 9yr old wagon worth 11-16k especially with 220k klms on it ?

looking realistically to spend about 8-10 grand .

issues with early LS1s there was a few

piston slap, most fixed under warranty

chewed out timing gears have seen a bit of this

####ed harmonic balancers rubber perishes can create big problems

rear main seal, moswt of the VT-VX ls1s i see in the shop leak from there

thats all i can think of now, ill ask my boss on monday he worked for holden when those cars were new

+1 for the Holden Adventra or HSV Avalanche we have a Adventra LX8 absolutely a great car highly under rated

I get 12.7l/100 hwy
15/100 town
16.8/100 for wife
last night towing 1t of trailer & load mix city & hwy 18/100 at the speed limit
no other issues I have found

Yeah Wagons and Utes always retain more value than Sedans so if youre looking at a good example of a V8 Wagon for 10 grand well...youre kidding yourself.

Even LS1 Sedans are still up around that price.

yeah it seems i may have to re think my plan and possibly wait a bit longer for more cash. my Ef wagon is ok but looking its age now ! plenty of 02-04 wagons for about6k-9k but not luxury or powerful models. See what turns up as i need it to be good nick.

Sorry But that is NOT correct NO VT, VX or VZ SS wgn's only VY & VYII. but you could get VT-VX LS1 executive wgns & they also came in Manual.

Theyre were VT SS wagons in fact 500 of them were made the First SS wagon. I'm pretty sure they were all red in colour

These cars are in demand I'm also looking for the right one $12k-$15k for a decent example is reasonable. for $8k-$10k expect to get what you pay for.
