well well just thought i'd share this with yall i thought it was pretty sweet. was at work on the topic trafic offences and a bloke told me that if you get caught and have to pay a fine, if you pay more then the fine is worth, you dont get points taken off. e.g if you had a speeding fine worth $120 and pay $125 the case will be left open as they still owe you the change. but since it is all computer operated n suff it doesnt give you change, therefor leaves the case open until the CORRECT amount has been paid, and then the points can only been taken of when the case is finally closed. i was really amazed and still dunno wether to believe it haha so just asking if anyone has heard of it?
not saying its true and what not just asking if anyone know if its true or is possible...
ive heard this before, from my understanding, its a bunch of bull#### but im happy to be proven wrong...
EDIT: found this

well i have a red light ticket to be paid haha, soon see if it works! really hope it does though seeing as im on my p's dang it
well i have a speeding fine atm , so ill pay a bit over and see what happens lol
eventually the points will have to get you so it would probably just delay it for a while but then dosent not paying the fine at all stop the points from that fine being added to your licence too.
Heard this before aswell.. interested to see what happens
^^^^^^true didnt think of it that way .
Another way around the system That Works is to give the details of two or more people living at the same residence.
Then say that because you were driving the same vehichle that day, and are not sure who was was driving it when the offence was done.
They then dont know who to give the penalty to and let it pass.
haha that doesnt work in wa you just get stung with an extra fine aswell as the original 1 and points
the one about paying a different amount doesn't work.
From what I've heard, this USED to be the case, however years back they realised there was an issue and corrected it somehow.
So from what I've heard (this is going back a few years), this loop hole has since been closed up.
Definitely let us know if it does actually work again though.
I heard about this ten or so years ago . You were sent back a cheque for the difference and as long as you didn't cash it the case remained open
This was on 2Day FM or Nova the other day. I thought it was interesting to know if it worked or not. Best way to avoid losing points though is to obey the law.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
I also heard about this about 10 years ago and gave it a try. It didn't work and I didn't get any change. So not only did I pay the fine and lose the points, I also gave them a $5 tip. It may work in other states but not WA unless something has changed in the last 10 years.
I heard this 10 years ago also, the transport department are on on to it. You may get away with it for 6 months but they audit the accounts every 6 to 12 months unless they take particular interest in your account.
Not worth paying the extra couple of dollars!
i tried it. failed. dont waste your time. they just send you a cheque back with your "updated points" certificate.
yeah it dont work
