And a short walk over to Southbank and there's heaps of places there...

Elephant and Wheelbarrow on Fitzroy St is good on a Saturday night. Brydie O'Rileys, Lucky Coq, Electric Lady Lounge (all on Chapel St) are good as well.

Depends how old you are and what you are after. The ones I mentioned are good pubs/bars, but you might be a young kid and want a club...

It's not exactly hard to jump on a tram to St Kilda from the CBD. The CBD itself isn't great for a night out.

Although there is a Belgian Beer Cafe on St Kilda Road that also has an extensive beer garden and another one at Eureka Tower without the beer garden. Was VERY handy when I lived there... Mmmmmmmm Leffe Brune!
