A Telephone Line Can and WILL Kill You If Shorted Out In The Correct Manner.

Sure, if I short the handheld part to a 40,000 watt, 100amp line than yes I'm sure it will kill you. Don't know where I'll find one though.

max voltage of a phone line is around 50volts, nothing too worry about, although in theory 240/415v/what ever hv u happen too have running down the street could cross a phone line...

You'd have more of a chance of shorting out something at the exchange...which means even though the shock wouldn't kill you - Telstra would after they track down the cause of the fault.

whoever told u that garbage that a phone line will kill if shorted lol..... needs to be shot... as said the lines only rated at like 50 odd volts and 72 or so when ringing... but the amperage just isnt there... feeel free to strip a phone line with ur teeth while ringing it... itll sting lol but wont cause u much harm

A short phone line wont kill you, you need to have it long enough to wrap around your throat at least once

if you touch your power lines in the street youll only get electrocuted if your grounded...
and unless you have some mega amps running through your phone line, which it really cannot handle, and bare copper is showing then youde get electrocuted (amps not volts kills)
your phone line in your house is normally catergory 3. which is data cabling, so you really cannot get a zap off of it.
