Ban on naughty corner, Easter parades | News.com.au
...the above link is a joke. It is no wonder we are seeing such poor literacy and maths skills coming out of schols. No longer is discipline something that helps children, instead, discipline is evil that gives us thegenerations we have...

The lack of discipline is directly related to the degenerating attitudes of younger generations. And we the over politically correct are the only one's to blame. Not the government, each and every one of us.
Actually, I think the goverment is partially to blame.
They are the ones who introduced all the laws that prevent parents from being able to disipline their children harshly.
Same thing at schools, kids these days have no respect for teachers because they know there is nothing they can do to them to punish them.
Though parents attitudes are to blame too. Too many don't give a shit about how their kids are raised and when it becomes a major issue they use the cop out of TV violence, computer games, etc.
Pretty much, these days with all the PC bullshit and limp wristed laws everything is someone elses fault.
No one is responsible for anything anymore.
Problem is directly the governments...probably too much lefty governments in fact (lets face it, Labor have been in power in the states as long as schooling has been going downhill). Schools now cannot expel a child without first finding them another school. If they cannot find another school they have to keep them there.
Bring back the cane I say.

I think this is a fantastic development. This should mean that obese people should be banned from all public places soon!Originally Posted by Extract

Waffle cones?
I heard that banning of the naughty corner on the radio at work this morning. I almost pissed my pants in laughter. They wonder why crime is escalating in the city and why young people are getting into fights, yet continue to just soften up the consequences. A young child spends a large chunk of their time in school, if they cant discipline them, then who is? The parents arent there and even parents are becoming useless with the old smack around the back of the legs being frowned upon.
stuff the cane, make it a bit of 4 by 2, and dont sand it down, those splinters will make them think, along with the broken knuckles.
having just come out of school i can tell you, younger years are getting worse and worse. and its too late to change their attitudes.
maybe some sort of military discipline could do people alot of good, teaching respect and when to shut up.
At my school last year (I graduated 2007 thankgod) on muckup day the shit heads poured cement mix down the toilets and drains, causing over $5000 worth of damage. I fully endorse the above 4 by 2 comment.

I'm kinda left of the current 'left' lol... but I am with you.. bring back the cane. My kids got thoroughly punished for any major stuff, and especially any kind of disrespect. They turned out pretty damn well. Its a shame that the Libs also would never touch these laws, its not just a Labor thing. Its a vocal minority being pandered to by whatever government is in power, just as always.
I know a couple who had a kid taken off them by welfare. They hadn't done anything wrong at all, except to deny the 12 year old an Iphone4 to replace her Iphone3. She called the cops and cried abuse. It took 3 hours after they took her away for her to realise the major mistake she had made and recant her story, but nearly 2 weeks for her to get back home.
How the hell can you teach a kid discipline under those conditions? If they had given her a good hiding like she deserved when she got home, its just another phone call and they are in serious chit. I doubt she would have, it scared the crap out of her when she realised the consequences of her actions the first time, but lots of people get in trouble for no more than loving their kids and teaching them right and wrong.
Hey- have you seen the ads for the movement sensing hand cleaners? Apparently even the soap bottle is dangerous to touch in the modern world..
For those of us "older generation" members of the forum, who went through school where corporal punishment was the norm, it is impossible to understand the "cotton wool" environment that now exists. How many of us turned into thugs, or criminals, because we copped the cane at school? I know a bleeding heart ex-teacher who firmly believed the cane achieved nothing and fully supported the namby-pamby way they do things today. She also supported the Labor Party. Needless to say, we didn't agree on just about anything.
Yes, sometimes I look at the crap that some of our younger generation get away with and think about how a near fatal beating would alter their behaviour for the better, but...
Perhaps you didnt go to a catholic school(either did I), but type corporal punishment, sexual abuse and catholic priest into a search engine and see how many hits you get.
Why dont you do a survey of the older cliental in prisons and see if there are any in there that didnt get the living daylight beaten out of them by either drunk parents, relatives or school masters(Im guessing most of them got away from school pretty early in life anyway).
So there you have one person who worked at the sharp end of the problem, but regardless you know best because the views of all teachers should be just tossed in the bin because they are just left wing bleeding heart commy bastards.
Is it ever possible for me, or anybody else for that matter, to express a simple opinion, or outline an experience, without you coming back with a totally opposite opinion? You are a beligerent PITA.
Why don't you go and find a nice lonely mountain somewhere and preach your bloody sermons there, instead of clogging up this forum with your antogonistic garbage?
LOL, OWNED! spose being banned once wasnt enough to stop causing trouble.. anywho back on topic.
not only can the schools do nothing to punish children that are out of control but not even their parents can, because in public it seems to be frowned apon, why? if the kid is being a little shit then they need a good hard whak to let them know its unnacceptable, because simply telling them not to do it wont get the message through
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Wow nothing like going to extremes. Funnily enough I attended catholic private schools for lower and upper school. While receiving a cane not once did i suffer a near fatal beating, nor anyone else I knew, not once did my grandmother issue, in her 35 years of teaching and as principal, a near fatal beating. Sexual abuse and catholic priest, sure that happened to, but so does a lot of sexual abuse where the offenders are NOT catholics or any other religion.
Regardless of all this, you know best, in fact you seem to know everything, we all bow down to the master commsirac.
Have a word on the tip of my tongue but not sure exactly what it is...I am sure it sounds much like duck hit.
