i'll (hopefully) be starting on putting up a decent size shed in the near future and i'm looking for ideas on how to keep the contents safe and secure. some ideas i've had so far are..
removable bollards in front of the doors, although it would probably be cheaper to cement 2 steel posts in either side, weld some tabs on there, and get a bit of steel pipe to go from post to post and padlock the show together, might be a bit heavy though.
dynabolting a heap of locking points into the ground (like the ones u see for chaining up bikes) and using them to anchor chains running up over the diff, thru bikes, wheels etc, im sure i could work out some way to anchor the roller doors to the ground too.
get a good strong PA door with a few deadbolts, if it opens outward maybe put some brackets up so i can padlock some steel bars across there too. gutter height will be 4m so im not too worried about anyone getting in thru the roof, if they fall they hopefully wont be in any state to steal anything!
i'm a bit paranoid about someone showing up with a tec-screw gun and undoing a a few wall sheets to get in (pub nearby used to have a little shed for storing cartons, it got emptied a few times by crooks using the above method!) i could sheet the walls inside the shed but this wouldn't be cheap, any other ideas on how to stop crooks getting in that way?
sensor lights/survaillance cameras are not an option atm due to the shed possibly not having power for a fair while (going to demolish current house and build new one later on, too tight to dig trench for power cable and pay sparky twice) anyone know of any decent battery powered survaillance setups?
getting a savage dog isn't an option because of how much time i spend away working, anyone else got any thief-proofing ideas i've missed?
Rottweilers, if only you had time!
Landmines.....
those steel pole ideas and chains sounds good would be good to have cameras rolling too with signs stating the fact.
3-Phase grounded to the shed with a hidden off switch.

you can get fake cameras, if you cant do real life camera's i would definatly use a fake one for the time being. Bars accros the windows aswell
Fake Cameras, Camera Signs, RAM Poles around so no one can drive through it, weld the screws if you can, will take a while but cheap, also a fake security box that has has the blue flashing light.
We have a big shed, we also have cameras on the house and shed, and an alarm sensor inside it. They are not wired to the shed, they are wired to the house alarm. The house and shed has cameras set up that go back to HDD recorder in the house. The cameras are all set off by motion.
The wiring goes from the shed to the house from inside the shed underground so there is no way of telling where the wires are so you can't cut them. If the alarm sensor wire is cut, the alarm goes off anyway, both alarm and camera system have their own battery back up so turning off the house power doesn't work either.
i'd just make sure everything is insured
Hate to say this but, nothing is really thief proof. you can make it difficult for them but that's about it. Now in saying that, I'd go with the removable bollards on the inside of the rollerdoors with them pad locked to the ground and with steel bars between them and steel bars on any widows you have.and have pad locks on your roller doors as well. I like the idea of welding the tek screws in place too, it'd be a time consuming job to start with but might be worth it in the long run to keep the "honest" thief out, however a professional won't be deterred no matter what you do.
for the stuff inside the shed, you can get these locks for motorbikes which go into the ground a fair way, and it has the padlock loop up the top, easy to chain stuff up to.
try and lock things up inside to shed inside something else, eg heavy duty cupboards and so forth.
as for the 3 phase said before, i like to see you get 3 phase running into your house =P (houses are single phase). and youde blow the board if 3 phase isnt used correctly.
No power you can just have a crappy little alarm like this.

Not much but hey if it goes off might deter someone

put one or two sensors in the corners of the shed (just in case battery in one fails), and the receiver in the house near the phone jack.
turn the alarm chirper off, but have the alarm base call your mobile silently (that way the thieves dont know they've been sprung and take their time).
when alarm calls you on the mobile (day time drive home or call cops, night time have mobile near bed and call cops) grab the aforementioned crowbar and crack some heads!
I've never had a successful break in.
you're never going to stop someone getting in if they want to get in. sheds walls can be kicked in or peeled back, and shed doors are completely useless.
the only way you are going to secure a shed is to build it like a house... brick walls, and metal door frame and door.
but if its got a roller door, forget it. very hard to protect those from break in due to their design. internal metal pillars help, but whats stopping them tearing or cutting a hole in the sheetwork and leaving the door down and pillar intact?
a dog or an alarm are the best protective measures.... because all of them alert people to whats going on. whirring sirens do jack though.... you need someone monitoring.

why not invest in gps for said vehicles in shed... be way more fun to direct the cops to the exact location of said stolen shizz
Get a dog, a big one. Our great dane and lab keep anyone guessing
asfor lining the shed you can use whiteboard/mdf cover sheets, they are quire cheap when i lined my shed I wasd buying them for about $15 a sheet.
fish hooks on fishing line hung around rear & side access of shed are nasty traps for snoopers at night time, if you can find one maybe some large versions of rabbit traps no longer legal though.
Why not an electric fence? powered by an energiser form inside the shed powered from a car battery & charged by solar.
At our farm we have had the occasional case for security cameras we have used old machinery batteries connected together, topped up by solar panels running an inverter to power a 240v hdd recorder.

yeah i was speaking to one of the a-grades at work, most houses are single phase, 2 extra phases can be done depending on things inside (eg if your a woodworker with lathes, special motors etc)
or you can get some generators that pump it out =P
but i still like your idea, would blow them sky high.
what about having the only shed entrance facing the house, that can be seen at most if not all times.
have motion sensors hooked up to high powered floodlights (multiple directions) along with security cameras, in about 3-4 locations to provide all round views of the entry/exit.
although if you have plenty of wildlife this may not be feasable.
otherwise you could have the shed security locked (coded and so forth) from the inside (or even from your house) that they turns on these floodlights cameras and alarms if people access the shed.
along with this have the most important items bolted to the floor with special locks, normally used for motorbikes etc (they go down 1m or so and are low profile).
# phase is expenxive to put it cost about 5 grand for the box to be put on your power pole elctricity line. I have a mate whos a sparky and even he said you cant do it cheap as we put a hoist in the shed ended being easier t and $4500 cheaper to buy a single phase motor
