    Default Nascar

I'm watching NASCAR on One HD and before the start of the race the announcer was actually praying to god and asking him to watch over their troops and the racers and stuff. What a strange... strange country. What about all the drivers and spectators that are atheists or from other religions?

"NASCAR believe it or not, is the only sport that utilizes public prayer and televises it before each race; asking for that extra hand of protection upon the drivers, fans, and those involved with the sport."

Not sure I am seeing your point here? It is done everywhere and has been done since day 1.

We've only just gotten One HD here so I've never seen the start of the Nascar before. Just found it really strange that they would bring religion into the pre-race show.

I don't have a problem with it but I would imagine a lot of people do.

Nascar is mostly in the southern states. Basically redneck central of the country. If you lived in some parts of those places and declared you were an atheist they would give you 2 choices, convert Or they shoot you.
Youve also got to remember that the US is still Classed as a Christian country so the prayers are still aimed towards the majority.

You managed to turn an interesting topic into something really really gay.

WTF is it with this forum and finding the most pussy aspect of everything and harping on it?

America is a very religious country, far more than Australia in general.

they have a prayer/national anthem before the start of the winternationals drags (season final) at willowbank every year.

as stated, NASCAR is a redneck yank show, there would be bugger all muslims/hindus/buddhists/hare krishnas etc in the stands or on the grid im sure
