OK, so it's in the mainstream media at the moment. This push to allow women onto the front lines of combat - i.e. infantry.
What do people think? I mean if you think of it in terms of Starship Troopers, great. Those chicks could handle themselves.
The big issue is the psychological big brother condition. Whereby male troopers instinctively feel a big brother mentality and become protective of their female counterparts. This is taught in the military and is one of the main reasons females can't become infantry soldiers. If one of them is injured, the mentality shift of the males changes on a sub conscious level. It has been proven in training exercises. The performance and effectiveness of the unit decreases, through nobody's intended fault.
I'm all for women being able to do any job they want provided they are capable. Including infantry. But provided there is no detrimental flow on effect. I server with female Air Traffic Control Officers who were as capable. I served with female pilots! But infantry... I just don't know how psychological issues can be overcome. With his background, I'm sure minux will give us the infantry view...![]()
My mate's been in the Army for several years now and has pretty much said the same thing. I haven't experienced it as he has and I wouldn't know what to say, but I'd agree with him on this topic.

I know we are in a PC world and woman can do mostly what men can etc, but I think there are certain areas where no female should go. I tell you now, if I was in the middle of a battle and broke a finger nail, I would stop to file it down.
Failing that, have all male or all female teams in the forces perhaps?
It will fail again...just like it failed in the 99/00 trials.
It is crap, not only do these women stink after 2-3 days in field, they are uterrly useless when it comes to dead lifting etc.
This is one step further into the pathetic excuse we have for a defence force.

Let's put a PL of Women on patrol, and see how they handle the hygiene and tempo. Only then would people be convinced.
But I'm open to being proven wrong on my thoughts.
Also, it' a big initiative enhancer for enemy if they are fighting women.
Imagine enemy actions on capture of a female?
If they want to put women in as infrantry they should have the same fitness standards as the guys and hygenie would be a massive issue as the grunts can go bush for over 2months etc without showers
Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
You seriously can't take a joke can you, if it don't work, just pull them back out, pretty simple
Douh, that was at CSP

I saw some of the chicks stationed at the Australian Embassy when I was in Baghdad and some of them looked as if they could kick the shit out of you with no issues!
that was my first thought, anything goes in war.....
got to be sensible with all this equality between the sexes thing.
There are some things men naturally are better suited to do, and other things women are better suited for.
Good example is in my job. I work for the government, we weigh road trains which includes lugging around and throwing 25kg scales under trucks. We carry out heavy vehicle mechanical inspections, which involves lifting (shared) a rather large 10 tonne jack out of a ute which weighs around 50kg. Now because of the governments equal opportunity policy, we have a female inspector working with us. Due to some complaints about the heavy lifting from our female counterpart, we now have to tow a specially equipped trailer every time we do inspections, so that we can can cater for her. WH&S has also now advised she is not to lift the scales...... So how does she do her job ??? We also work out in regional areas, on the side of the road etc where there are no toilet facilities. For us guys it's not a problem, but obviously it creates other issues when we have a female with us.
I'm all for women getting equal opportunity in the workforce where practical. But let's be realistic about it, some jobs, situations aren't suitable for both genders.
I disagree with the theory that men and women are equal. If we were equal, then we would be physically built the same, and have our brains wired the same way. But obviously this isn't the case. Instead I believe men and women are equivalent. Both genders have their own strengths & weaknesses. It's not about either gender proving they can do anything the other gender can do at all costs....

Another example of PC madness. If a new male was employed and was not able to lift the scales, I am sure he would be let go as not being suitable for the job, and quite rightly. Yet because a bloody woman can't do it, she not only gets to keep her job but I imagine is paid the same as the rest of the crew.
Very sad state.
Give it a try I say. It might help society to realise that Men and Women are different and we should stop trying to treat them the same.
true Sashyre, one of the requirements in the job advertisement when I applied was 'heavy lifting involved', I assume it was the same when she applied.
so, agreed, irrelavent of gender, if you aren't capable of heavy lifting, then you shouldn't apply for, or get the job....
and yes you are correct in assuming, she gets paid the same money as the rest of us.
wheres the sammich and get in the kitchen jokes!
Women do not belong on the front line of war. For many more reasons than one.
I'm sick to death of this feminist bullshit. I'm not a sexist but there are some things which are gender specific.
I think it's dangerous for woman to be on the front line, imagine they got shot whilst running on the frontline serving up those sandwiches.
PS I don't really care, either way.
Women can serve on submarines sometimes in jobs men can't. But I guess the frontline Is a bit different
