Hey guys,
attend quite a few burnout competitions a year and have asked a few people about this but can't get a straight answer. Is rubber smoke i.e. the smoke from a burnout harmful or as harmful to you as smoking? Does rubber contain carcenogens (think thats how its spelt)? Can performing/watching excessive burnouts cause lung cancer and/or other health problems?
i can tell you one thing i doubt its too healthy for you... but we all still love it anyway haha
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
if tyres were 100% rubber, then probably the effects wouldn't be any worse than inhaling burning timber.
however most tyres these days contain a high synthetic/chemical content, which when burnt could have similar health effects as inhaling burning plastic (which of course is bad)
so at a guess, I'd say inhaling tyre smoke in large quantities would be detrimental to ones health. However on the occasion, I doubt it would be much worse than breathing half the smog we have in our big cities.
Lead cause of death is life. /thread
any small particals you inhale are bad and can cause cancer, also anything that burns and contains carbon is carcinogenic and shit loads of stuff is made from carbon, including us.
the way i see it, you have two choices, breath and inhale shit or dont.
just about anything fun causes cancer these days, so may as well just live fast & die young![]()
I find it opens up my lungs.
this is a stupid question, its death to you and your lungs end of story. enjoy your cancer, i will get it too.
Rubber chemicals are BAD NEWS.
I have worked in the rubber industry and read the MSDS of the chemicals that go into rubber compounds. Most of them say you should wear gloves just for touching rubber.
Once rubber is cured many of the dangerous ingredients have reacted and therefor lost much of their danger thank god, but still I'd be avoiding it whereever possible.
Google this Ethylene Thiurea ( ETU ) and find an MSDS then try MBTS, MMBT, DOTG... the list foes on and on.. I think the spelling is correct. It will turn you off rubber for life.
Of course its bad for you!
It doesnt matter if it comes from burning tobacco a few cm from your mouth, or from burning material (be it wood, plastic, rubber, coal, gas, petroleum, whatever) meters or kilometers from your mouth.... if its going in your lungs its not good for you. At all.
It's all about concentration and quanity.... the more crap that goes in and the more often you do it, the more damage it does.
But in my opinion, burning rubber would have to be one of the worst things you can breath in. They certainly dont make that stuff to be lung friendly.
Unfortunately most people that say things like live life now and die young don't realize that sometimes death can take a few years and most of it in suffering. I have seen some good friends die slow painful deaths and it can be quite upsetting. I work in a nursing home and see people slowly dieing everyday and not just the elderly either, just recently we had a guy in his forties pass away from cancer. But you may get knocked over by a truck or something tomorrow so make the most of the time you have!
The only know cure from Burnout inhalation is a teaspoon of cement in your cornflakes
Burning food can be dangerous lol .. my lady would kill me...
