Me too. If you are not doing anythig wrong , it doesn't matter. If the Police have to resort to hiding, using different cars, etc, etc, it all boils down to reducing the road toll....I don't wanna die yet, and I am sure most of you out there don't.

Reducing the road toll? What about a ticket for travelling 1km/h over the limit (Ticket was 83 in an 80 zone, minus 2km/h for the speedo). Will that reduce the road toll?

Are they making the road a much safer place by putting a camera like this up in a no-accident place and not giving any sort of warning..

Some of it's just revenue raising bullshit..

I've seen two coppers in a black astra recently, very much the unmarked car.

honestly, the 3km/h (or is it 1 now?) tolerance is plain criminal... ADR standards stipulate that a speedo can be 10% innacurate and still legal (just)... on the freeway that is a 10km/h difference...

Well you shouldn't have been speeding, is all....My point was, if there is no speed cameras etc etc...a lot more people would be dead...And I don't plan on being one of them..you can be if you want...(just DON'T involve me or my family or friends or anyone else...they all have no reason to die....)...).....I have only ever (IN all my ears of riding/driving) gotten ONE speeding ticket...and happily paid it, because I agree, I was speeding...totally my fault... we need a bit of Disipline on the roads, same as anywhere else.....

Who gives a shit really. Speeding is speeding. Its like a woman is either pregnant or not pregnant not just a little bit pregnant. Or life and death you are dead or alive not just a little bit dead. Theres no grey area, if you are speeding you are breaking the speed limit. If a speed limit says 60 it means 60 not 61, not 62 or even 63! Every extra km/hr you go faster makes it that little bit harder to stop your car. That could be the difference between life and death.

I dont see how hiding a speed camera is going to slow people down. They only slow down AFTER the flash anyways.

They should put heaps of camera warning signs (even if there is no cameras) and that would slow poeple down.

If they really did care about saving lifes they would do that instead but it seems they care more about the money than the lifes of people.

You soon learn, when you get a pile of letters with pix of your car in them.....and a little bill to go with them...

they do in NSW.....ans theystil have the highest speeding stats !!!!

They need the money to pay people (=red tape etc) to do these things....we all know how quick they are ....not.......

Well I guess I'm for the against side.

I don't see how hiding camera's in bushes, hiding around corners or even unmarked cars are doing any good for us.

A camera hiding in the bush - you don't see it so you don't slow down. We've all seen what the effect of one clearly visible camera / vehicle on the side of the road does. You see a flood of brake lights and it slows everyone down instantly.

Speedings Speeding.... Yes, but only to an extent, I mean if I got pulled over for 75 in a 70 zone I wouldn't be too happy. 80 onwards.. Understandable. It's still speeding, but as already been stated, speedo error and then 1-2 km leeway?

It's clear that its revenue. Of course if people get a few tickets they are going to start thinking about slowing down. But its not going to slow them done for that trip. It's not going to slow them down for 3-4 weeks until they get their tickets, or whatever the date is.

Ticket was a while ago. It was soon after the CityLink first got up and running. And my dad got it, not me..

I'm not saying that speeding is right though, however in certain situations it can be justified.

What if you're being crazily tailgated and without noticing you accidentally speed up a few km's. It's understandable..

What if your attention wavers just a tiny little bit and you creep up to 105km in a 100 zone, albeit momentarily. I'm sure all drivers have been guilty of things like this. No matter how safe they are.

Speed camera's are good. But they should have a decent tolerance on them though. If they're on a freeway, maybe a 5km tolerance. Anything other then that means that the camera is not there for safety, just revenue..

I was under the impression that they cannot do that, don't they have to allow 5% or something?

maybe make speedos pesimestic, i.e. they read 60 and your doing 55 or similar,

i am against hidden cameras and unmarked cars, i can agree that if i speed then tuff luck my crime my punishment but i think i'd rather 20 police cars all marked than 15 marks and 5 unmarked.

to quote gta2 of all things; Cops, EVERYWHERE! but is there ever a cop when you need one? NO!

mostly irrelivent but i figure it applys in its own way.

sneaky, see in the us though they wanted to put a stop to people impersonating unmarked cops so the put a law down stateing that unmarked cars cannot pull over a driver for a minor issue [speeding missing a red light etc] best they can do over there is cal in a marked car and let them deal with it.
