    Default Suit Tailor/Hire

    Hey,

Wondering if anyone knows of a good place I can get a suit tailor made, but also be able to hire suits in the same style.

It needs to be Eeither in SE Suburbs or Melb.

I have a budget of upto $1500 for my suit. Not fussed if 2 piece or 3 piece.

Let me know if anyone knows of a good place to recommend.

    Cheers,

I'd be surprised if you can get a tailor made suit for $1500 unless you compromise on materials and quality.

I reckon getting a decent off the rack and then getting it tailored to suit is a better option in my opinion.

The last suit I purchased was a Herringbone. Sticker price of $1300, got it for $500 on sale, plus another $200 at the tailors to tweak it.

Yeah, I would get off the rack but I am retarded body shaped. Aka really long arms and legs.

I've checked out a few sites and the have alright suits for 1bout the 1300-1400 mark tailored, but I'd like to see if anyone knows of a good place from experience.

    Cheers,

I suggest Thailand aswell, you don't have to fly there tho just get measurements taken from a tailor and send them off to some hut in Thailand. Give them credit they make some awesome suits given the price you pay.

Agree with Reaper... You got to ask yourself "will I ever wear this ever again?" Even if you only hesitate in answering, hire the lot!

Yeah, March next year. I can't really hire because they will need to make alot of alterations to any suit for it to fit me.

Plus more and more frequently I need a suit for work.

Well, once at the wedding. Then a 2nd time at the divorce hearing...

I do have a use for a suit, just never been able to justify the cost of it. Now I have a justification so may aswell.

Not sure if this is helpful, but there are Hugo Boss direct outlets in Sydney (presumably in other capital cities also) which will do alterations. You could pick up a reasonable suit that way. Hugo Boss seem to fit guys rather than the slim-fit, namby-pamby, Euro-cut off the rack suits like Oxford and such*.

Thailand do awesome suits...off the rack suits are ok 'ish' but for abnormal shaped people like yourself and I (I have a skinny thin waist and a stocky, broad shouldered torso) you will be spending at least another 20-40% on the tailor bill haha.

Not necessarily. If you pay full price for a decent off the rack, then alterations aren't that much to get it fitted properly.

I also have a V shaped torso - skinny waist and broad shoulders.

From previous post, I found (absolutely by chance) a Herringbone suit that fit across the shoulders and tapered well on the waist. RRP on the suit was $1300 and I scored it for $500.

The jacket length was slightly too long, as was the sleeve length. Ditto trouser length.

So I went to the tailors and got the jacket shortened, the sleeves shortened (they had to unpick the sleeves at the shoulders because the cuffs had functioning button holes), had a section across the back of the neck pinned to eliminate rippling, and had the trousers hemmed. Total cost was around $200.

I was more worried about shortening the jacket, because if they stuffed it then it would have looked out of proportion compared to the waist pockets, but all the work they did on it was flawless.

If you can find a good tailor then its well worth buying decent off the rack suits and getting them altered to fit.
