Yeah he's only 19, but what are your thoughts on not getting a conviction?

Good that he has to pay costs and does 180 hours, but I reckon if youre going to be so cruel to an animal you should get it put on your record. He is afterall 'an adult'.

im totally for him paying the bills for it and think 180 hours community service is fair. Same should go to those who kill any animal just for the enjoyment. Not a fan of it at all

Its a swan...stick it with a needle and put it to sleep like the 1000's of dogs that they kill everyday because they're protective over food... The national IQ is slowing but surely dropping...

No thats not what i said, yes i agree its cruelty! yes i agree they should get a conviction! BUT (and heres the kicker) why are people getting all het up over a F***ING BIRD. Agreed. "Fairy country" seems applicable. From what I've seen on tv this has recieved more airtime than the American cyclones and almost as much as the japanese earthquakes.
I'm all for him being punished.. but $11k on a bird and it still dies? That money could have gone towards a few hundred meals for homeless people or something.

IMO: It is sad to see this raw footage and even sadder the swan was put down.

I feel a little bit sorry for the young lad as the media ran with the story fairly hard and it was obvious they made an example of him. He was given a section 10 (recorded without a conviction) so it will always be on his file if the right people need to know.


And while im at it, there is a massive difference between a criminal record and a criminal conviction

I hope they forced him to sell his jetski to fund the medicals.....

I was gonna say the same thing, he has no idea what he is talking about. I worked in this industry for almost 2 years, and one of the main reasons why they try to kill them as quicky and hamanely as possible is because if the animals are under stress it actually affects the quality of the meat. They explained all this to me on my first day. By the time they hang them up they are quite dead lol.
