Brunswick Semi Trailer Accident Leaves Man, 23, Dead
Now who in their right mind could possibly think that running underneath ANY moving vehicle could possibly be a good idea, regardless of what speed its travelling at, or...anything, really? Ah well, natural selection at its finest I guess.Friends of a young man who tried to run under a semi-trailer in a skylarking incident last night watched in horror as he was struck by the vehicle and killed.
Police said the 23-year-old was standing with a group of friends on Phoenix Street in Brunswick when he saw the truck slowly approach the intersection with Sydney Road about 10.45pm.
The East Brunswick man attempted to cross the road by running under the trailer, which his friends estimate was travelling at about 5km/h.

He was struck by the trailer's rear wheels and died at the scene.
Police urged anyone who saw the accident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit CSA National :: Home.
The national Easter road toll now stands at 15. Three road deaths have been recorded in Victoria so far this holiday weekend, taking the state’s annual road toll to 95, four more than at the same time last year.
Dick head, sympathies to the family (although to be that stupid his parents must have fed him lead)

Hmm, i await the media saying he was copying fast and the furious moves without a car...

I was at noize bar about 100 meters from the accident, one of my mates knew the guy, supposedly it was bucks party. RIP

what a ####head, nothing more to be said really.
Crime stoppers? Wasn't he just trying to cross a busy road!?-)
Biggest mistake of his life, and unfortunately he will never learn from it.

and the government says speed kills ?
no "stupid kills"
being near sydney road, would not surprise me at all .. the guy was probably drunk to the ceiling and got dared to do it or something.. moron lol... i feel for the poor truck driver though whos gotta live with killing an idiot for the rest of his life, my uncles a truckie whos killed someone by accident and its not a nice feeling!
I echo sympathy for the poor truckie, he'll live with that for the rest of his life.
And for the dude that got killed, 23 years old, man, what a waste of a life, no matter how stupid his actions were.
He was a dick for doing that but didn't deserve to die for it.
I feel sorry for his family and the truck driver.
No one ever deserves to die and definitely not like that, also my sympathies/condolences go out to his family/friends...
Having said the above, the guy is a bit of a twat.
My biggest concern is for the truckie. He how has to live with the fact that he contributed to the death of a human being.
Even thought it's not even remotely his fault, some people will struggle to deal with it. It can have a devestating affect on his life.
I hope he has the support he needs and I hope he is able to get past this.
I also feel some sympathy for the family and the blokes mates. The mates in particular as they will probably now have to live thinging "what if".
What if they had left the pub 2min later, what if they had prevented him from trying to run under the truck. That would be something horrible to live with.
Thats the thing...he wouldn't have had any idea until it was too late...poor guy was just doing his job. As you said, I hope he's able to get the support he's going to need and move past it.
