It has come to our attention that a few users are using the private message system to generate business and talk to prospective clients.

This is to cease immediately.

We have sponsors paying to advertise their products on this site. It is unfair to them and also breaches our rules.

If you wish to advertise your products on Just Commodores you can email admin@justcommodores.com.au and ask for pricing and for a sub forum to be setup should you wish to advertise.

If we find this is continuing, the users in question will be removed from the site without question.

D3, if they are advertising things int he for sale section, all good. If they are advertising their business an admin approval is required.

If you see anything like this, use the report post button.

As far as I know he has an agreement with Darren.

Although I am not sure this agreement covers messaging users who have asked questions. personally he should have a sub forum to deal with people etc. Will speak to Darren about that tomorrow.

Id say, if its your own items for sale then it should be ok
But if its linked to a "shop seller" power seller etc than nah ;p

Yes, I have an agreement with Darren.

I only respond to PM's, on the rare occasion that I initiate one, it will be to answer a question that has been posted in a sponsors forum. I don't have a sub forum of my own, and I won't advertise in someone elses.

I put links to Ebay items of mine from time to time in CB - as it may intrest a few people at the time - not at all for them to buy it. I find selling stuff on Ebay some what fun and a form of gambling LOL. I dont send PM's looking for sales - but do answer questions from members because I'm often able to help.

Many JC members have received very good deals from me over the years and countless hours of FREE help. I make very little profit from the items I make and sell. If I tallied up the time it takes to make the patch looms and repair clusters I simply would not be able to justify the effort. So I dont task myself with this and just do it.

It's an important part of my life to give and will continue to do so as it is bart of MY balance and well being.

If how ever I was to be removed from the forum without notice because I stick a few Ebay links in the CB so be it - sad but I can move on from that.

I was working on doing a sponsorship deal with JC when the timing is right for me - just cant do it right now.

I was recently hunting around for a spare door for my car. I sat for a good hour on the train going through Google Maps and writing down the names, addresses and phone number of all the wreckers I could find. I have at least 20 on the list.
I haven't visited all of them, and I'm not affiliated with any of them in any way. I was thinking about posting up the list so other users in Melbourne could use it as a sort of quick reference chart.
Would that breach the advertising rules? Might sound like a silly question, but I figured it was better to ask first.

I think this a fantastic idea, I don't how many times I see in posts people say about using there local wrecker or where good ones are located. Is there something we could setup where we can list wrecker info an possible review them or would that be a breach in advertising ???

Imagine you had paid to be a sponsor on this site and advertise your business and then a free listing appeared advertising your competition. How fast would you be slamming off an email/message to the Admin Team asking why you pay and they dont?

Not that I have ever advertised via PM but, I think the bigger issue is people snooping on PRIVATE messages.

No one snoops on private messages so cut out the paranoia.

It is simply a matter of users passing onto the Admin Team that they have been sent a private message containing certain information. Luckily there are users on the forum who support the rules and will pass this information on.

So Just wondering, if i was to promote and advertise a CD on here in the general section and let people know about it and maybe even organise to sell it would that be ok to do on here? or would i need approval?
