Listening to Triple M, Eddie just said the Police will be alerting drivers of speed cameras to sting the Govt. about bad wages
I thought the cameras were there to save lives... hmmm

There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
They even said, if anything, this will improve road safety.
Im going to stick with revenue raising.
Problem is, I never see a copper near speed cameras.
Easter long weekend this year was interesting. In a 9km stretch of motorway, I saw 3 vans, 2 bikes, and 3 cars, all with radar/lidar. Not a small number of unmarked cars out either, which was good to see. Shame they don't ditch the lidars for marked police presence instead.
cant wait till smoking is illegal. gee i wonder what is going to replace cigarette tax money..... $600 fine for 61 in a 60...
edit: also i got a question... are the mobile speed cameras manned by actual cops? or just contractors that operate the equipment?
Speed cameras don't save lives. Look at the studies done in the UK.
It seems the coppers are going to disrupt the governments revenue raising but will still issue fines for things that are actually dangerous. They should do this all the time if you ask me
Just saw this happening. Waved the plod as I went past thanking him so I could drop down from 115 to 100. No idea why there was a speed camera there, it is a straight piece of road that has never had an accident...
Anyways, I hope I will not be fined when I start flashing other road users warning them of a speed camera to justify my pay rise.

Who can you turn to when the police are simply agents of the government, and the government control the RTA for revenue.
We can't vote the buggers out, because the next sod is happy to inherit the extra revenue. Every major issue, whether it be smoking, speeding or immigrants...governments don't listen to the people anymore. They just pretend to stand for something at each election to get voted, then do a 180 and do what they said they wouldn't (Howard - GST, Gillard - Carbon tax).

You understood the general meaning. No need to be offensive.
Haven't seen this yet, but would love to! Mate i'd give the cop a coffee!

public opinion of cops could go up because of this. i know if a cop saved me some money and points by warning me of a speed camera i would be using my best manners next time i talked to one.
lets just hope the govco dosen't give them the payrise then order them to dish out fines left right and centre to recoup the lost revenue
they my be warning people of the cameras but theyve sent covert agents to collect up the back pay lol. one of the painters i work with just got his vn ss wheel clamped out front of work today cause of 3k in back fines he hasent paid. i had a good laugh... hes a full blow tosser anyway guess what goes around comes around... cant believe he let it get that bad. im thinking wtf he do to get over 3k in fines. its got a vz clubsport interior and its parked in plain view of hume highway in sumerton wonder if it will be there in the morning. anyone want directions? lol
LOL ^^^. There was a lancer that had been left on the side of the Hume just before the southbound Craigieburn exit a month or so back and as I was driving past it on the way to uni I started to notice different things going missing. It got to the point where it was left on blocks with half the body stripped!
Btw, that's the sheriff's office that issue the wheels clamps etc...
Minux why cant you be fined today?
Also i thought flashing your lights was illegal as its hazardous to others drivers and may cause an accident?

take a second and contemplate how many accidents are caused by people attempting at avoid camera fines. i had a cube truck lock up and go fully sideways last month behind me cause he thought i was going to follow through the intersection but i wasnt going to make it so i had to do 80 to 0 in a hurry. he was prob 70 meters behind me. the point i was trying to make is the decision to stop fast is made by a driver that wants to avoid getting snapped. making mistakes is part of human nature then add speed and the threat of financial loss your got a recipe for disaster...
As I said, the problem was the idiot tail gating and you confirmed it. If 70 metres isn't enough to stop abrubtly and safely then clearly mortons are travelling too close together.
Oh as for how many accidnets are caused by cameras, I would say nil. They are all caused by drivers...
