Hi guys,
My mum bought a pair of Kylie Minogue tickets yesterday off a 'friends' Son, Explanation was give and full ticket price paid. She has just gone to the the concert to get to the line and had the tickets come up as 'STOLEN'. She called the guy back to ask for the money, He said the tickets CAN NOT be stolen and began to argue.
Is my mum able to go to the police about the matter or has she done the wrong thing by purchasing the tickets off somebody else?
Please help. Cheers.
depends on what there worth... cops could say bad luck and just a case of buyers remorse... is there a way to check if tickets are hot before you buy? thats my question...
I have no idea, Didnt even think of that. She paid 160 ea for 2.
My main question is will she be in the wrong for buying them?
does your mum have a receipt or any proof that she paid for the tickets? the fact she bought in good faith and paid the agreed amount between vendor and buyer she has done nothing wrong, the problem is now that she will lose her money, and with that fact i would certainly refer the matter to police and supply the vendors name and details since a theft has occured the police have a complaint they have to investigate. that sucks and i imagine your mum would be p..off!!
It's not illegal to buy tickets from people who claim they cannot use them for concerts generally. Lots of people advertise tickets if they realise after purchase they can't use them. Unless the tickets are sold specifically on the condition they cannot be used by anyone other than the purchaser, which doesn't usually happen for a concert.
It is illegal to sell stolen tickets obviously. This is possibly what has happened in this instance so your Mum needs to inform the Police.
not a very good "friend" obviously
Generally it's ok to resell tickets for their face value, but not for a higher price. So if she's paid face value for them, she hasn't done anything wrong and should report it.
I do hope it WAS your mum that went to the Kylie concert lol. Sorry to hear anyway, I don't have much time for scammers.
I agree. If they are genuinely stolen, the police should be advised. I think it will become a civil matter to seek recompense for the tickets, but you should remember that any legal advice I, or anybody else gives here, could be way off the mark as we are not legally qualified. Your mum should seek legal advice from a professional.
couldn't his mum get done for receiving stolen property?
hmm coulda been messy!
Sounds like she got her money back after you went to the cops?
Either way its a good outcome. I dont think theres a way to "check" for stolen tickets like a check on a car. I think you may be able to ring ticketek/ticketmaster with the serial number and ask about it, but you would need to know that info!
