We were hit while stationery at an intersection on the 8th of june by a P-Plater in a 4wd with a bull bar travelling between 40-60kph conditions were fine and traffic was very light .The police and tow truck drivers were convinced the statesman was a write off but once all of the carpet was stripped out off the boot we found the tow bar reinforcing saved the car but an inch either way it would have twisted ,its now getting repaired at a cost of $5000-$6500 by his work insurance they had to get a special assessor to look at it
The wife an I were injured and are still recovering the P-plater lost his license and was fined he was already on a good behaviour condition with his license no damage was done to his 4wd
So just remember the Government has stopped them from killing themselves in high performance cars so now every P-plater in a 4wd is now a threat to your life
Just think they learn to drive in a small hatch back and then go straight into a 4wd and are allowed to drive a diesel turbo end rant

That **** buddy,we have also just had P-Plater in a 4wd smash in to are john deere tractor work because he was texting in the rain and didnt see the tractor with its flashing light on doing about 20khp.My poor mate got hit at about 70kph and he is not in a good way.Oh and the driver hand no insurance to top it off.

With the insurance we were in same the boat until luckily he found his work insurance covered him because he was working at the time
40-60kph? You were stationary? He was in a 4WD?
Mate, your car wouldn't have a rear end....the boot would be crushed up about level with the bottom of the rear windscreen.
Mate that farkin sucks, but if he was going 40-60 your car would be alot worse off. Hope you and your wife getter better soon
level of his bull bar hit our boot lid clearing the floor and boot nearly did smash the rear screen but the boot floor was bent to the point of the tow bar reinforcement the height of his car and the tow bar saved our car and we were hit with enough force to be injured and the 4wd did skid or slow down we took the full impact
I hit a ute in my S13 ages ago (He went to turn at an intersection, I followed but stupidly looked right before looking forward, and didn't see that he had stopped) and I must have only been going 5km/h and it mangled my chassis at the front and rooted my bumper on his tow bar, & a guy ran up my Honda's a-s once and my tow bar saved my car, barely even bent it, they're good to have lol.
I guess the spot his bull bar was at, and the spot it hit your boot saved the rear, whereas if it was lower it probably would have done alot more damage.
In this case I guess it was just bad luck, wrong place at the wrong time etc. I always think it could have been worse, he couldn't have had a bull bar etc but still that sucks, hope you guys recover

main thing is you and the missus are ok and the stato isnt a write off. hopefully the panel beaters dont have much trouble chasin up the garnish and tail light. cant believe theres 6g's worth of damage there
Your lucky not to be hurt. Shouldn't be a hard repair so the panel beater might be able to do a good job.
Damage depends on alot of things, could have easily been doing 60. If your brakes weren't on hard you probably moved forward a bit you lessened the impact.
As long as you don't have to pay for it, it doesn't really matter how much the cost is I guess, but nah I doubt 6k damage

was he on the phone or distracted, because im sick of other p platers making a bad name for the rest of us.
anyway its good to hear you are ok, hopefully the car turns out all right once it is fixed.
youre spot on
The pictures dont show the full extent of the damage but the whole panel on the rear has to be unpicked and replaced and area where the tail lights are have to be straighten and the boot has to be raised back up by about an inch
Again spot on but we were both hurt and are still recovering I cant go into the injuries on here atm
I'm sorry to say, BUT you wouldn't be going off if it was a MID-AGED MORON in a 4WD. Your ok and so is your wife and car. There is no possible way the guy was going 40-60 with the weight of a 4WD and a bull bar your car would be crumpled.
I feel sorry for you mate, but everyone makes mistakes and you wouldn't be going off if he wasn't a P Plater so just calm down everyone is fine.
Edit: i know Alot of p platers are morons, But NOT ALL, and can you tell me you've never been in an AT fault accident?
Who gives a #### are any of you guys panel beater cops or with the TAC? what do you know about the circumstances surrounding the crash? theres a thread in ve section where everyone said no way you were going that fast yet he has pictures to prove it. ive been hit up the arse by a car doing 60kph and my damage was less than that because as said above i let my foot off the brakes and got punted forward my calais was still a write off though.
As for damage quote insurance jobs are always overpriced so they can get maximum money out of insurance companies.
Jecs said it best good to hear you n missus are ok and car isnt a write off.
As for p platersim not passing judgement on them all but there are a lot of ########s in 4WD's out there young and old even women

Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Could have been anyone driving anything. Are you suggesting that p platers shouldnt be allowed to drive turbo diesels? Any reason for that?
Thats nasty mate and good to hear the P plater got his back.. Did you call the cops or did someone else? Is it still a 1/3rd of market value still a total loss or right off?? My mate had a gemni wagon in mint condition and a lady hit the gas in drive and thought it was reverse and slammed her commo into his wagon and pushed it into a wall.. was enough force to move his wagon totaly out of the car spot onto the foot path and then into the wall.. bot cars totaled.. hope you heal up quick
Just to make myself crystal clear in my first post of the thread.Iam nothing having a go at P plater or people in 4 wheel drives at all ,it just than vsl67 accident happened around the same time as my mates accident and share some of the same similarities.
glad to hear you guys are ok, which is the most important thing!!
a pity about the damage though
hopefully the young bloke learns from his mistakes ey...
get a lawyer and claim for your's and your missus personal injury on the compulsary third party insurance on yours and his registration that is what it"s for, and I hope you don't miss to much work.
also I F###K3N hate 4wd drivers, they think there vehicle is safer but they are totally wrong, they are not safer for other vehicles, pedestrians AND OCCUPANTS! it only takes a shunt from a small hatchback and 4wd is on it's side or roof.
Nobody wants to play with me
thought 40 to 60 was the other dudes estimate... didnt read the OP good enough.. looks like the tow bar got most of it then... im in the smash trade and ive seen 60 from the back plenty of times looks a whole lot worse than this one. id say 6 g's looks about right too, could be more after the tear down... my neighbour managed to knock his gear lever in reverse at a trafic light one day while reaching into the back seat for an over turned bowl of soup. 15 k's into a 4wd bull bar did similar damage, a little less...
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
