I'm looking at getting my bike L's and a bike. not sure if this is against the rules, but can anyone recommend any general bike forums, just want to do some research about some bikes, and general info/advice.

Pretty good site they helped me out.
As a learner go for a GS500, best learner bike, cheap and good power 0-100 5 seconds. I had one, great little bike.
Im on 3 bike forums and there all zx6r or kawasaki forums.. I have been riding for 7 years now.. it was my daily for 4 years rain, hail or shine to work.. Are you looking at doing a 1 or 2 day learners?
i was looking at the Suzuki GSX250F, i'm less after power and speed (for my first bike at least) than i am something i can ride comfortably, and get me off the fricking bus in the morning, got the 5L for grunt when the bug bites.
any good or bad points on the across?
cheers, i'll do some lurking round there.
tbh the courses i'd come across looked a bit sketchy, some were only 2hr, which i think would see me eating road in the real world. was hoping bike forums could point me in some better directions.
I has a gsxf250 or the accross as its called.. great learner bike and you get a boot to storeyour lunch or helmet in as well.. the petrol tank is under the seat..I made a few trips to the island on it and never missed a beat, great bike and my wife rode it for a year or 2 as well till she got her sv650..
Give H.A.R.T a call on colchester road in kilsyth a ring.. i got my learners and p plates there and so did my wife.. its a 1 or 2 day course depends on what you wanna do
yeah the storage was what appealed, save me carrying helmet round or leaving it with the bike, also means i don't need a rack (not that the storage is huge, but i wouldn't have heaps of gear anyway.
does anyone back any feed back on a hyosung GT650R?

we used it do do shop runs and load the storage up.. Some parts are easy to find but the exhaust is a 1 peiece front to back.. I found that out the hard way when i put mine down in a roundabout at 40/45 ks and it slid for about 10 meters and broke the rear break peddle, indicator and bent the exhaust onto the passangers pegs.. picked it and rode home, was stiff and soar for a few days too..
yeh join netrider, they have learner meet up days every week and lots of cruises, i used to have an across too and they are a good bike to learn on cos they are a bit bigger than a normal 250

When I was last looking for my first bike, the Hyosung Did impress me with its looks, and after all it could be de-restricted. But after seeing a few 2year old bikes, you could really see how poorly built they are made, just simple hose fittings, nuts and bolts had rust spots all over them, and made the bike look like shit.
Also the quality and strength of the engines apparently pretty week also. But they have had a few releases since not so sure now. Have not road for a few years.
As for the GS500. I Found the power perfect. It was just close to the edge of warp speed for a learner lol. But I did get bored of the power pretty quick.
Then road a SV1000S a few times. 0-100 in 3 seconds its a bit crazy but the rush is better then any drug lol
CBR250 i trip over them they are to bloody small and scream like mad doing 20kms lol
As what edals say, Hyosungs are very common through my work, and very cheap. But you get what you pay for. I wont lie, it's good bang for buck but for that buck you're better off getting a 2nd hand of something reliable.
I started my L's on a CBR250R, pretty quick (well for an L's bike, keeps up with v8's). but for you since you want someone to learn on and what not, go for maybe a CB250? Cheap, older design, better seating and more of an upright back comfortably before you get used to leaning into the sports bike. After all, if it's an every-day, long rides on the CBR used to be a bit of a problem.
I'm on my L's atm, bout to go for my P's soon. I ride a 07 Yamaha scorpio, absolutley love it. It's probably not the best bike but its my first bike. it handles great and has enough power when i need it. only problem is its a small bike, i'm only 175cm and i feel hunched over on it. It could have something to do with the fact when i was still in school i used to race track bike (push bikes on veledrome) so im used to being very leant over the bike nearly horizantal but being a comuter the scorpio is a very upright riding position. plan to move upto a larger bike soon, suggestions?
