    Default Whats this XR6 turbo

I was driving down South Gippsland Hwy today and there was this late model XR6 turbo in front of me . It had 3 ariels on the back ,a video camera mounted on the dash and another one mounted on the parcel shelf and what looked like flashing lights mounted in the rear window but couldn't really tell as the tint was pretty dark .The guy driving it wasn't wearing any sort of uniform .

Maybe just an unmarked cop.... Or TVR has bought a falcon.. Hmm..

The street racing squad around here (operation potato or whatever its called, they pull up next to you at the lights, rev you off, lights go green, ########s race off and the modified evo or whatever it is pulls them up) drive in plain clothes so you dont know they're cops.. I saw them pull someone up after racing, and what he does is hop out, throw on a police jacket and then goes to the window with a badge in hand..

Those small cameras mounted front and back are amazing they "see" your numberplate and automatically check if your car is unregistered.

Yeah they are well equipped these days. A few years ago here on the Central Coast we got issued with 7 new undercover WRX's, which was pretty stupid because the central coast isnt a massive place and at the time you pretty much new who had a new rexy. So you'd spot them a mile away.

The number plate scanner mentioned above also scans for anything linked to the owner of the car, I have a suspended license at the moment and my labouer drives my car which always gets pulled up because it sets off their system. They usually just look to see if im driving now to save them wasting time on a stop.

But the funniest undercover cop car that I see every summer on the Central Coast is a Ford Falcon with a surfboard strapped to the top, which remind me of a time an xr8 with P plates gave us a rev at a set of traffic lights implying a race, so being young and stupid (as we all were at 17) we gave the little VC commodore all she had off the lights and as we hooked into a round a bout we did a 180 only to see blue and red lights flashing away in the XR8 we just dragged...

The cop was nice enough only to fine us for "excessive acceleration"

I reckon it's just an undercover cop with plain clothes. Nothing new for canberra, we've had them for ages. They have all sorts of cars, hiace vans, mondeo xr5 things, 380's a few new cars that they never used to have, you can still spot them from a fair distance though

Normal laws dont seem to apply when it comes to road rules. Innocent until proven guilty is another one that doesn't apply

Yeah, For a standard conviction, the court needs to prove that (in simple terms) that you did the act, and knew you were doing the act/meant to do the act

For traffic offences, proof only has to be on if the act was done...

@Velocity, I also at first thought it would be illegal, becuase if the cop didnt rev you off, you wouldnt have raced him... But its in the same boat as when police set up a drug deal and bust people buying, they wouldnt be buying if the police didnt set up the deal...... Most of the time, things dont make sense...

lol, yeah just read the post that your referring to, a maybe it is but its happened to me personally as I stated in my previous post... Police are known to break the law to enforce it.

I can't wait for the day for these cameras to be fitted to every single cop car in the country (and also to every fixed camera). Every wank stain they pick up unregistered or unlicensed is nothing but a plus in my books.

yer its great that they have this new stuff.. should get a few wankers off the roads and now they say from tomorrow the cops will impound it for 30 days instead of the 48 hours and repeat offenders can be impounded up to 3 months or car can can be taken off them..

They have been doing that for years . There was an old HT holden ute that used to get around Clayton many years ago that used to try and drag you at the lights then pull you over and book you .

Cops can do allot of things we cant. And their not breaking the law although if we did it we would be.... You also cant place an AVO out on a policeman either....
