    Default I'm sorry, but...

    How bloody good is potato!

I mean, as far as a vegetable goes, it's got to be one of the most useful veges to cook with. You can use it in damn near anything.

Anyone got any good potato stories, or recipes to share?

I'll start with one my mum used to make.
Mash up some mashed potato, then mix in a good handful of cheese. Then, with your cheesy mashed potato, make a funnel out of some butchers paper.
Fill the paper-funnel with cheesey mashed potato, and pipe into little swirls on a greased over tray.
Bake the swirls until golden brown on the tops.

There you have it, crispy potato swirls.

Good old potato is a fine weapon for all ages. For a Spud gun when your 12 or a potato cannon when your 20, your pretty much covered

get a potato (leave skin on) boil for about 3-5mins, cut in half (long ways) and spoon out the potato from skin. Then mix up the potato with what ever you like (i used pineapple, peas, corn and bacon) and put it back into the potato skin. Top with cheese and put under the grill. Nice healthy snack.

I like them boiled in the jacket, topped with bacon, cheese and a bit of onion and put in the oven. Once the cheese melts you serve them up with a tub of sour cream per spud

EDIT: Come to think of it, I pretty much use the spuds as a topping for sour cream, not the other way around..

Cut them into slices and cook the slices on the hot plate of your bbq with a touch of oil. I do that when ever I put on a bbq on for guests and everyone loves them.

Make mashed potato as per normal, but then mix in some grated chees and sweet chilli sauce, put it in the fridge til it's firm, make it into little balls, crumb and deep fry them

I eat the skin from a baked potato buttered with a big dose of sour cream, but I peel potatoes served any other way. Oh wait, I lie. If I am cooking them on the BBQ I slice them skin and all.

I eat the skin most times. I love baked potatoes, cut in half, heaps of cheese on the top with bacon, and throw it in the oven to melt the cheese and then OMNOMNOM

Family favourite is just good ol' mashed spud with garlic salt. Although, if the other half makes it he puts in enough butter to clog even the healthiest persons arteries....

A close second favourite is Potato Bake. Just layered potato, onion, bacon and cheese, pour over a tub of cream, sprinkle some more cheese on top and bake. Soooo unhealthy though. But so damned good.
