who is your car insurance company?
Smith & Wesson!
I just bought a 2004 VY and had a good look around for insurance, The best one I could find without going to a broker was Suncorp, Fully Comp for $450 + another $70 for a couple extras like rating 1 protection and window replacement the 1st time any get smashed, Great for me as I've never had insurance before and didnt have any rating what so ever, easy to use online quote and u get an online discount as well try here -> Suncorp Car Insurance
Im with american pitbull terrier. But seriously sgic only coz my home, contents , ducati and other stuff is with sgic to get the discounts
Swann Insurance
abit hard to work with, going to go with someone different next yr
I have the VX SS insured with RACV, they gave me the highest agreed value of all the insurers I rang.
Shannons and im 22
Late model cars/house etc all with NRMA
Old cars with Shannons
im in the smash trade, id never touch AAMI. no problems till your car is damaged and then its all bog and second hand parts.... the shop i work at does 85% aami jobs and let me tell you, the contractors i work with cut corners to make a buck cause aami drives the prices rock bottom... shannons, bingle, youi, astralian pentioners insurance, just car, insure my ride, and a bunch of others are owned by the promina group, there all ####ed (wit the exception of shannons).... if i showed you some of the quotes ive seen youd add this to the cringe thread.... i was with allianz for years then i got onto shannons, it was half the price and had all the same benefits inducing choice of repairer... shannons dosent model its business plan after aami and its r&r prices are heaps better.... if you care about your car dont touch anything from the promina group except shannons.... i just painted a 2007 bmw 3 series coupe insured by aami. the car has ceramic clear that aami wouldnt pay for (got the ppg d800) repair on the bonnet, new front bar new driver side guard, and blend the driver door and blend passenger side guard. (first time in a while i got new parts yaaay) i got paid 40% of the paint cost on the quote which was (i took $300 10% gst included).... which means my shop quoted under $750 to paint a full front and into one door (on a black metallic) .... lucccckkkkkyyy your with aami!....
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
With AAMI. Recently went to reinsure my Landcruiser that they insured last year for $700. This years renewal, $1200. My wife rang to ask why. After an argument we got it for $650. I mean seriously WTF!?
Been with CUNA. I neglected to inform them that I lost my license during the period of insurance and we renewed with them. I made a claim after I had my license back. They asked me if I had lost my license among the other questions when one claims by phone. I replied I had. They informed me that I should have let them know when I lost it. I replied that as I wasn’t driving ringing an insurance company and sharing this info was one of the last things on my mind. They refused the claim. I cancelled my insurance with them and reinsured with someone else. I then wrote to the ombudsman and complained. The ombudsman sent my complaint to them. They phoned me and offered a post gracia payment, not, they assured me a payout for the claim, and covered all my costs. Had they not been so petulant up front I would still be insured with them. As it is they paid me out, lost my business and I have shared this story with everyone I can.
Been with CGU. They would not let me take my car to my preferred repairer despite the fact it was one of their repairers. They photograph your car and post pictures on the net for their repairers to quote. The repairers have to guess the damage and your repairs reflect the cut rates they are paid. They gave me a feedback form. I binned it and wrote a page long complaint. Next time I was sent directly to the repairer of my choice. Another thing with them is that my broker once cancelled my current insurance with them and reinsured as a new client coz it was cheaper. So much for loyalty. Almost all of my experiences have been less than impressive. Get your best deal and shop around each year is all I can advise.

RAC but they are pretty fail, will be changing soon.
I'm with NRMA for house, contents, car and CTP. Never any problems. I've had two significant claims with them.
Our dear old JD Camira wagon was caught in a severe hail storm. It was absolutely hammered over all upper surfaces. We kept it for seven months before claiming and it was written off without any question. We even got a full refund for the rego to cover the seven months we had continued to use the car. Our house suffered a lightning strike a couple of years ago and half the electrical appliances and ducted air con was fried. All replaced without question. Might not the the cheapest but the reliability and customer service is second to none.
I'm with RACQ. So far I've only made one claim (when I got hit by an old fart in a Hilux last year), they were onto it straight away and chased the other driver's insurer for the money, and my car was back on the road a couple of weeks later with a new driver's door, new front RHS guard, new RHS headlight, and two new wheels.

For my work ute I use RACQ.
For CTP I use Suncorp, only because they issue free CTP Rally Extensions.
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all,,,,,,,,,
