Kind of an odd thread on a Car forum, but wanted to know if people know of good honeymoon/holiday destinations.
Currently looking around at places with the fiancee, and I'm pretty hopeless at this stuff so I figure you guys can give me a hand.
Looking to spend about 8-10G including flights for 10 days.
Criteris:
- Relaxing location
- Water so blue it looks fake
- As un-touristy as possible, I don't want crowded beachs or fat russians
Nice to haves:
- Overwater bungalows, always wanted to stay in one
Pretty much, looking for a relaxing island paradise but ideally with boat rid distance of other stuff.
GO!![]()
I went here about 10 years ago when I was a kid. It was very relaxing, not too many people and lots of stuff to do, I did plenty kayaking and parasailing while I was there, it was good fun.
Castaway Island, Fiji | Fiji Resorts - South Pacific Islands
Are you into scuba diving at all? Or would you be open to learning?
If so...
Sipadan Water Village Resort, Mabul Island, Borneo.
An entirely self sustaining resort in the middle of the water. Great weather all the time, amazing views no matter where you are at the resort. And some of the best diving in the world. I can tell you from personal experience it is simply amazing. Sharks, sea turtles...you name it, you'll see it there. Everything you need to dive including training is available at the resort. I went there with no qualifications at all, only a few previous dives. I managed to get 13 dives in 5 days, the deepest being 30m.
So I'd say it fills all the criteria, except maybe the touristy one. Obviously because its such a good spot there are going to be a fair few other people there, but the resort is fairly spread out so it doesnt feel too crowded. And the groups they take on dive trips are relatively small.
Just a suggestion, may not be the best location for a honeymoon if you're not into diving, but I'd recommend it to anyone who is.
Maldives maybe? Heard its a good place.
The only Exec in Saudi that's now properly badged!
I'm going on my honeymoon in September, but its mostly Europe.
But we are staying in Langkawi, Malaysia for a few days on the trip home. It has the little huts over the water thing.
I remember it was something like US$600 a night.
So might be worth looking into.
I gave you where we stayed.
We also stayed at Le Meridian in Bora Bora in an overwater bungalow...it was so unimpressive, staff were rude, everything was so over priced. We are heding back to our honeymoon location for 7 nights. With only 12 villas and out of price range for bogans it is a perfect retreat. All for under 1k a night.

Iririki Island, Vanuatu. Bungalows over water, water meets your criteria, Russians haven't discovered the place yet, reasonably priced and you don't spend half your holiday time getting there. Boat ride takes about five minutes from the beach across the lagoon to the island.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
The diving resort looks awesome. I don't scuba but spearfish so I would be willing to learn for sure but I'm not sure about the fiancee. She doesn't like getting her face wet... lol
The castaway island place looks quite attractive, have to investigate further.
Maldives is one of the places we are looking, but the accomodation is a bit out of our price range.
Keep the suggestions coming!
Calaber, Iririki is full of loud mouthed drunk yob's lol, (we could hear them one night in Vila). Eratap out of Port Vila is the way to go.

Actually, I'm the only person in my family who hasn't stayed there - but they loved it. I'll see if I can suss out the resorts they used.
we went to mauritius it was nice but dissapointing could've went to thailand and had a stroker for the money I paid
Just go to Dubbo and blow the rest of the cash on hookers and beer.... and don't forget your toothbrush![]()
Waikiki is nice any time of the year, and our strong dollar makes it even nicer.
We're going to Royal Davui in Fiji, all reviews and pictures of the place look stunning.
If you look any more into Vanuatu, I highly suggest you do a day trip to Mt. Yassur on the island of Tanna. Best money I spent on my trip. It's pretty expensive for a day but you will never forget the feeling of standing on the rim of an active volcano.
