I didn't say it was where I live. Just where I spend a significant amount of time. It's not in Australian but the prices are $2.50+ per litre and nobody whinges. It's the cost of having convenient transport.
There are cheaper, less convenient alternatives so if people can't afford to have a car, there is no reason why they have to. And therefore no reason why anyone should whinge about the associated costs.
Ultimately, you can either afford to own and operate a car, or you can't.
Depends entirely which areas you live in. For someone living in the CBD or the inner suburbs a car's a luxury but for others it is a necessity. I noticed this when I started uni, the amount of people that didn't own cars that could just catch the train or bus to work for practically nothing while I was the sucker spending $80 per week on fuel. Even when I got a job in the city the plan was to drive 10k's to the station then catch a train in, but then I realised that the first train didn't leave until after 5am which was too late for me, so suddenly im the sucker spending $150 per week on fuel.
Gone back up to 146 now, got in this morning BP Ultimate 98 for 142.9. Can't remember the last time I paid that for petrol.
Good times.
Lucky its cheap VT $110 FG $104 Gen2 $32 lol. That's why people want smaller cars they save $50 plus per fill up.
