Hi guys, looking for some assistance please, we, (my 17 yo son & myself) run a small wrecking business in Moorabbin Vic (specialising in the very make of vehicle this forum is dedicated to).
During the course of our busy day today we had a young man come in (after phoning to confirm we had the parts he needed & the price) to "purchase" 2 "VX S Pack seat backs" (you know, the part with the elastic pouch behind the front seats that is prone to breaking) & after giving full detailed fitting instructions & removing his damaged ones, took advantage of momentary distraction to abscond without paying, my (trainee) son is devastated & feels he is to blame however I've put his mind at ease by explaining that people usually do the right thing if they feel they are about to be exposed.
So if anybody knows DANIEL who resides/works close to the Moorabbin area & drives a RED VX S PACK (reg beginning with R) would you please give him a friendly nudge & suggest he make good on his purchase, the local constabulary have advised me to give him until Monday 1/8/11 to do so or they'll come a knocking as we have video surveillance footage of him & the vehicle (parked right up to the camera, number plate clearly visible) which indicates "lack of intent".
He can even put the $$$ in an envelope & slide it under the roller-door after hours if he wishes to remain anonymous & no further action will be taken, we'll put it down to an honest mistake!
A small reward can be arranged to the person who gives DANIEL a friendly nudge if required (verified by matching the number plate) so shoot me a PM after he pays up.

I bought my VL off a guy named Daniel except he lives at Maroochydoore in QLD & I think he drives a ute now (He said he was getting one for work when he sold me the VL), so unless by massive coincidence he went there to do the dirty work, I doubt I have a lead here.

Did he leave any other details? I hope you manage to either get your goods back, or your money mate, some people are complete arseholes with no respect.

It's all good, thanks for the reply though, yup love that pic (some say I look like him, just sayen).
The local constabulary inform me they have enough information to "proceed with charges", hopefully it won't come to that.

As I explained to my son, for every single deceitful Commodore owner there are thousands of good ones & they are the guys (& girls) that make it worth turning up everyday, I love dealing with them.

Just out of cursioty how much where they worth? And it is possible he to got distracted and not payed. But after reading what the op said i highly doubt it. It already sounds like you have this guy caught mate. Why can't the cops look up his plates and pay him a visit?

It's not so much the $$$ it's the principal, the police suggested there was "no intent" & I tend to agree hence the reason they've suggested we wait until Monday before they proceed, I believe they've already looked him up whilst I was making the complaint, the Moorabbin constabulary have been very good to me over the years & quite a few of them buy/procure parts from us on condition they park down the street (if on duty) for some reason it doesn't look good having a patrol car parked in the drive way..............

Go with the latter...........there are only 2 Commodore wreckers in Moorabbin & only one in Kilpa rd.

Well, here in NSW if you fill up at a service station and walk in and buy a chocolate bar or something and they don't ask you if you got any fuel and you walk out without paying for the fuel then its not your fault (which also fall sunder the "lack of intent" your talking about)


You will be chased up over it but wont be charged.

Either way I hope he comes clean and your son stops kicking himself over it...

Sounds about right however I think the law may vary between states & these Moorabbin Law enforcement officers have a well earned reputation for justice, my sister served there straight out of the academy a few years ago.
He's a great kid, loves the job, he'll be better for the experience.

Thanks ClairBear, I know you weren't having a pop, I've been a registered member since 04 but unfortunately don't get much time to post but am a constant observer, used to post regularly on Ford Forums until I bought the wreckers & crossed to the dark side (as it were) but love the Commodore's & know all their quirks & this forum & it's members are fantastic!
