    alloy or steel?
alloy will need to be rerolled by a alloy repair place but a steel rim you could just try hitting it with a hammer...

Does the rim still hold air? Does it balance?

^ This. If it still holds air and can balance, things aren't too bad.

held up great, the first set of 19s i got,one had a really dodgy weld on it and didnt realize till i got home with them that another one had a crack so i had them both repaired and rolled, cost $160 for the 2.
then when i bought my 19s i have now, when i picked them up,one of them had a crack also so took it to the same bloke and he fixed it up really good, been nearly a year and seems fine.
these were done at a proper alloy repair place in west gosford and from what id heard before going there,he has a pretty good name around the place, alot of tyre shops use him etc

ebay mate... first ones made no mention of it at all and the second set of rims i have now,i asked the bloke several times if they were cracked at all and if the tyres were good,i was told all good, drove to southern sydney, tyres were cracked in the walls and rim was cracked. i expected i was going to buy new tyres anyway so wasnt that worried.
bloke was decent though, ended up knocking $220 off the price. wasnt a massive crack, maybe a few cms long so i understood how he missed it,
