Default (DTEI) wants to drop speed limits from 60km/h to 50km/h along ................

The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) wants to drop speed limits from 60km/h to 50km/h along Military Rd (Bower Rd to Strathfield Tce), Strathfield Tce and Lady Gowrie Drv (to Outer Harbor).
Cyclists support 50km/h call - Local News - News - Portside Messenger

I ride my bike along Lady Gowrie drive and whenever I have had a close call with a car it is not the speed, it is the ridiculous procession of roundabouts that people do not understand how to negotiate. Roundabouts put there by the same department who are suggesting this. 60% of road death occurs in the country area according to SAPOLs web site and yet there is an obsession with 50k zones in the city. How many lives have been saved from the reduction of speed limits from 60kmh to 50kmh? None. What the Dept of Road Transport needs to do is actually take some of the responsibly for the road toll themselves and start to address the things that are true hazards. Like the section of South Road between Port Road and Regency Road with scarred and battered stobie poles three to four inches from the side of the road. There’s a good start.
I don’t suppose the introduction of more 50 k zones has anything got do with the recent doubling of the fee for speeding fines?

    Rant not over.

mate you have to speed on that stretch of road cause if you get stuck next to a truck and he wallows into your lane...you have about 2/5 of fvck all room before you scrape the kerb or even worse hop the kerb and smack into the power pole thats sitting less then a foot from the edge.

when i say speed i mean speed to get the gaps....i dont condone any sort of illegal speeding..
on a side note i did 100kms behind a Highway Cop car that was doing 105-108 in a 110 zone.....i thought he was waiting for me to boost past so i just sat behind him for the hour until he got pissed off and sped up
