Gday i run two statos, a 98 s3 L67 and now a wm 3.6. We took the 98 to the same guy for the first 6 or 7 years only to find out the charger oil had never been changed (though billed for). Wasn't that interested at the time with under the hood business, so went along with it. Learnt a few things since and don't want wanna get ripped again. Still only doing basics, sparks/leads, air filter, oil and filter, coolant, etc, but have gone as far as thermo change on the L67, painting and audio setups. So if I'm due for a warranty service, is there any advantage in having RAC check it over prior to?
Cheers for any input
not really, its a bit of a waste of money, if the mechanic is good, and i spose there is a bit of trust involved, they will do there service properly.
but a mechanical service isnt a full inspection, especially a log book service, they just go by what the book says to change, if you have any issues, let the mechanic kniow when you drop it off..
and if your really worried, like the case with your SC oil. draw a line on the bolt head and the metal its bolted to with a pen/marker, check it afterwards, if the lines dont match up or the line has gone, it means they have touched that bolt, which hopefully means they have changed the oil etc
ahh ok cheers, good info regarding the bolts, thanks again.
I was under the impression that super charger oil never needed to be changed unless you were changing snouts or like.
