Hi guys, there is a speed camera/red light camera I think where the intersection of Canterbury Rd and Elga Rd is in Victoria, however it says its a "safety camera
testing area" or something on the lines of testing, does this mean you could get a fine?
thanks
nah, Im just curious if its possible to get a fine there cos it says its a safety camera testing area
They now have safety camera signs in SA too - replacing the red light camers signs from the prevous years.
So yep they are money makers and also stop people running red lights risking other peoples lifes.

Nah lol I know that, my point is they said its a TESTING area and Im curious if u can get fined still when it says TESTING cos its the only fixed camera ive come across which says TESTING area
The real risk to someones life is when someone performs an emergency stop in front of you when the light turns amber because they are so terrified of losing points off their license. I see more near misses and nose to tails at intersections with red light cameras than without them
Victoria is a big place.... care to elaborate for those of us who cbf punching it into google maps?

Pennant Hills, New South Wales - Google Maps
Yep like this "safety camera", located at the bottom of a hill on pennant hills rd, seen plenty of trucks that weren't even that close (in b4 shouldn't be tailgating) lock them up due to the car infront jumping on the brakes...
Ok first off it's actually 'Elgar' road.
Yes they TEST speed/red light cameras there, and YES you can get a fine there
/Story
lol,the missus got done by that camera. so yeah, its not testing it actually works.
Thread dig, but, I've been done by this camera. Was so easy to get out of. For one that sign that says testing is falling apart and been there for as long as I can remember (as far back as swimming at aqualink when I was 8), secondly the sign that I approached from the opposite side has been bent, mauled and graffitied for about a year and is illegible let alone seeable, those two points got the fine waved very quickly. Funnily, the signs are still screwed.
I fail to see how the condition of a sign dictates weather or not you should get a fine. If you were speeding and/or ran a red light then you deserve the bloody fine, with or without some god damn sign to alert you to a camera ahead.
And why do we need to dig up some old thread to brag about getting off a fine?
