Default Good High Pressure Washer/Hose Unit?

    As title says...

My old man's birthday coming up soon and I'm thinking about getting him a high pressure water cleaner unit...like a Gerni.

Now I don't want anything shit quality...Dad and I pride ourselves on getting good quality tools, so I want this to be the same.

Any suggestions of brands or units that other people have that are good?

    Hit me!!!

Some Karchers are made in China so be careful of the cheaper models. +1 for Spitwater but they aren't cheap.

I wouldn't touch karcher, they use plastic tanks (until you get into the high end models). Gerni is probably the cheapest option that is also the best. I researched the same thing last year and went gerni after read a gazillion reviews.

I've got a gerni that's about 7 years old now and has never given me trouble. They use brass fittings inside which just last and last. I had a karcher before that and it was a big cheap piece of shit.

I do concrete resurfacing and use one every job I do, so it's been used hundreds of times. I bought a Spitwater waterblaster about 15 years ago and it is still going strong. I did have to replace a few seals in the pump once probably due to the fact that I wasn't using a good filter on the water tap. The Honda motor has just kept on going. So I can recommend Spitwater.

Don't touch karcher, they are pieces of shit. Brother in law has one we borrowed a few times, always ####ing up attachments jamming and such.

Definitely go for a Gerni mate. I've had one for ages and have no complaints.
If you want something big with big power go a Spitwater, we have them at work, they are rated at 3500 psi. They're diesel powered and are on a big cart. Might be overkill though for you haha

Have had our Karcher for around 5 or 6 years and had no issues with it, it is one made in Germany from memory, cost about $150 or there abouts, the pressure is perfect for car washing, you don't want one that has too much pressure that will damage trim or paint, my mate has a pressure washer not sure of make and it lifted some of his badges, he was probably using it too close though. The only thing I would maybe do if buying again would be buy one with a bit longer pressure hose, bit of a pain to have to pick up the unit the hose the power cord and move it all because you have run out of reach.

Will be used for washing cars, washing footpaths, decks and probably other random stuff.

I've read a few reviews and from what all you guys are saying, looks like the Gerni is the winner.

Where's the best place to buy them from? Bunnings? or Online?

bunnings would be a good place to buy it, so you won't have any problems if things do go wrong...can just take it back easily.

Our karcher is pretty good. It fked up once, but it has lifetime warrenty.

That being said, it was $700 and it throws your arm back @ full.

We get a million karchers come back under warranty every day at work. If you get the high end ones, they come with full brass fittings and all the goodies then youll get a good unit, however you have to fork out for it.

Some of the mid range models are good but still expensive if youre just after something to wash the cars and around the home type things.

A karcher is great if you spend up, but in saying that im to scared to because I have broken 5 in the last 12 months and 2 of which belonged mates of mine.

They all cost under $200 but I would of thought they would be ok....Not the case.....

None of them were covered by the 12 month warranty because I use them in a trade. And I only use it for about a half hour continually per week at the end of a Cement Rendering job.

I think they offer a 3 month warranty for the Tradie but all seem to die just after the 3 months...

    Coincidence? I think not

i think if you spend 1-200$ on any pressure washer your going to get about 1-200$ use out of it... ive got a small karcher not sure the size but i only use to prep resprays and wash under carriages. used it maybe a dozen times... no problems yet...

I've got a cheapish Karcher, its about 2 years old and never had a problem with it. I just don't turn on the pressure till all the air is out of the hose.
