Do you do it yourself?
do you find anything wrong with people working on cars at night?
I prefer working on my car at night time.. I can see just as much at night time then during the day..
and I find it more relaxing
My dad always tells me not to work on my car at night? it frustrates me..
whats your opinions on working on cars at night? O.o
I tried to once, had 4 fluro's setup all around the car plus a few LED bars strapped to the underside of the car, and I still managed to lose lots of stuff.
These days i just leave it for the weekend and do it through the day
Night's usually the only time I got time to do shit.
Out of respect to the neighbours I'd keep the noise levels down but apart from that go for it.

A lot of the time that's the only spare time you get to work on it. Before I worked night shift I was always out the shed at night.
i'd love to, but i worry about my neighbours since they all have kids (who wake me up at 6.30 AM GRRR)
its really inconsiderate to use a grinder after 7pm, but if i can find something quiet to do i will work till whenever.
actually, even in my workshop which is industrial zoned i still pack up early so as not to piss off the neighbours. i can get away with a lot more noise in the shop, but a grinder is still too much for after 7pm.
I end up doing it because otherwise I don't have time. Prefer to work in daylight though. No matter how many lights you have it's not the same and easy to miss something. Depends what your doing too I guess.
i try not to but sometimes things take longer than expected so i end up finishing in the night but thats also because im one of those people that if i start something it has to be finished otherwise the next day i'll more than likely not want to keep going.
I enjoy working on my car at night just depends on what I'm doing, but only if the weather is good.
I just find it alot less stress full working at night.

Only do it when I have to.
Every night this week is taken up with repairing and rebuilding a boat trailer, it needs to be done ASAP.
At the moment Im working until 8-8:30 at night, the grinder stops at 7:00pm and I start the welding or something else that needs doing. Come paint time the compressor may go until 7:30 to get things done.
The neighbour knows to come over and tell me to shutup at any point.
Apart from that I may service my car or the odd thing, nothing loud, and have plenty of lights, 2 X1000 watt flood lights and numerous spot and handheld lights for out side the shed, plenty of lights inside the shed.
I work on mine alot at night, as long as I have plenty of lighting I find it to be quite therapeutic after a long day of work
The only time I get to work on my car at night is when I go back home, I'm not pissing about with my car in the university
car park. Last weekend I had a mate over and we put new speakers and an amp in my car. We had the three induction
high bays cranking, no need for headlamps!![]()

I work on my cars at night sometimes depending on the job.
I don't have ample lighting at my place and I still need to go and buy a bunch of lighting to light things properly.
I find it easier to work during the daylight though.
yeah used to work on mine at night all the time, something about it thats just better than daytime.
ahh the old risky 2am pulling the whole dash out and back together again before work the next morning...![]()
Yeah all sorts of things have been done to cars at my house after dark throughout the years. It usually only happens in an emergency or in many cases we have been working all day and a couple of hours after the sun goes down is all we need.
The neighbors know I love my cars and I they usually come to me if they need anything looked at or fixed so they understand if a rattle gun is blasting away at a stupid hour.
Reminds me of the time i was working on my old skyline, outside at night in the rain with a cheap car cover working with a torch that was barely brighter then a candle,, An all because i didn want to leave the intake off the car..

Night time is the only time i have to work on it... i hate doing it... its cold, its dark, you have to be quiet and im sleepy.
Much rather working during the day but alas full time work limits what you can do i guess.
aZk.
the road i live on is that noisy i dont think it would matter if i was using a jack hammer in the garage. im woken at least 3 times a night by some dude in a blown ute or some wanker popping a wheelie up the street in a hayabusa at 3am. it turns into calder park after 9pm.
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
i work at night on cars all the time when needed and usually only until around 8 sunday to thursday nights. friday and sat i go until i feel like it. i have two flats next to me and have been told by the people in the front flat that they cant hear anything except my music and only if they are outside. i dont start cars without mufflers after dark. the only time i had a complaint was years ago when i was putting a motor in a fc ltd i had over night because i had to get away by 7 the next morning. around 3 i was having trouble getting the car back under the new motor due to the uneven ground i was doing it on so i grabbed the only other car around(it was unregistered) to pull the ltd into place. it was a mini panelvan with a slipping clutch and no muffler. it took around 5 minutes to get the ltd forward because of the slipping clutch. just as it got it and turned the mini off my other nieghbour(sp?) yelled out to shut the racket up. a couple of weeks later i aw her in her yard and explained why i was doing it(had to go to my partners fathers funeral) and it was all good.

Yeah, I do it too when i have too ... like if the car breaks down on the way home from work and i want it fixed before the next day, or i've bought some new parts and i'm keen to get them on so i'll just go out there in my ugg boots n tracky dacks with a torch in my mouth and go for it. I've done heaps of jobs with my mini maglite in my mouth.
i work on mine alot at night but i try to do it quietly so i dont annoy the neighbours too much i put a couple of really good flouros in my garage and got heaps of other lighting in there so when im bored i can go out anytime and get something done to the old vk.
It's amazing how much you can get done with the light on your iPhone. Can't hold it in your mouth though
if its not finished i work through the night, but most of the time i get it done during the day.
I generally try to avoid it, because I can't see shit and never seem to get the lead light where I want it.
If I had a decent sized shed, with good lighting I wouldn't mind - especially in summer as it's the coolest time of the day
