I gotta buy a car for the wife. Looking at a 2000 lancer. Anyone got any thoughts on these?
Inb4 crap ricer cars etc
I've seen a few around, look alright, never driven one, don't know much about them.
My mate used to have a 2 door lancer, dunno what year, wasn't a 2000, it was one heaps of girls drive lol but it went alright, manual FWD.
Heard they look pretty cool done up:
Sorry, couldn't resist :P But what I said at the start wasn't sarcasm.

my mate has a 2 door lancer 2000 model, goes hard and is cheap on fuel.
Looking at a 4 dr to put kids in the back. I bought her a perfectly good Vt wagon. She said it was too big so I did the obvious thing...
Manual conversion. SSL springs and sunroof now fitted.
Only problem is now she is complaining she hasn't got a car. So I saw a pretty nice purple auto lancer for sale.

The 2000 Lancer, as long as it hasn't been thrashed or riced, should do the job, if she wants a A-to-B type car. Depending on your budget, have a look at an 02-03 Civic Sedan too. I know more than a few people with that model (and later) and have had no problems with it.
CE lancers are great little cars mate their extremely reliable and handle fkn awesome also they run on a oily rag.
try and get one with a 1.8ltr or 1.8ltr Mivec rather than the 1.5ltr just a bit more balls.
the 1.5ltr engine are the same as the DOHC 1.5ltr out of the X3 Excel (Hyundai = cheaper parts)
If your mrs wants some thing slightly sporty go for a CE MR.
