Hey,
I was just wondering if there is any other guitarists on the forum?
if there is.. What do you play? In a band? Gear? ect,ect ect,
I have been playing for four years now. I play anything from Stevie Ray Vaughan,
Jimi Hendrix, anything blues, blues-rock, rock, heavy rock to instrumental stuff by guys
like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and Yngwie Malmsteen.
If anyones interested I'll post some pictures of my gear
G
You must be pretty good to nail Vai, Satch, Petrucci and Malmsteen. I m not in your league!!!
I always struggle with the name “guitarist” but I own several and do play in a band so I guess that qualifies.
I have a 1980 (ish) Washburn A20, still my #1 love. Has Brierley BH16 pick ups in the bridge and a SD jazz in the neck
Close behind a 2003 (ish) PRS CU22, its very pretty.
I have another Washburn A10 which is a bit of a beater.
A couple of ordinary acoustics.
My kids have cheap Fender Squires and a Epiphone
I play through a Mesa single rectifier into a Marshall 1960 quad.
I have a Marshall AVT 50 head a swell and a home made 2 x12 with a Celestion V30 and greenback.
Effects I run a TC Nova system , Ibanez wah and a couple of dirt pedals.
We play around 8 - 12 a year at few sports clubs and a pub. Try not to get to busy. We jam nearly every Monday night for shits and giggles. All covers, two chickie singers, two guitarists, bass, drums and key.
Fk yee! Well i'm no guitarist, but i do try. I mainly play heavy metal, and metal (drop b kinda shit).
I use a 120watt all valve Bugera 333 head and cab
Got an SG a bunch of ibanez, but this is my favourite one, An ibanez RG420e With Dimebucker pick-ups
And i am waiting for my new guitar to be finished, its a Fender Blacktop tele with EMG - KFK pickups chucked in which also include a gain boost switch mounted up
Chuck up some pics of your gear
Black, Red leather, 20" Pentagons, Red walls, Lowered, OTR, Mafless, 3.9s, Diff dumpers, 341rwhp...
185i, Chasers, Flappers, Venetians, Sunvisor, Twin diff dumpers, 194rwhp...

I will try to get some pictures up soon
My playing has suffered the last 18 months, due to the HSC,work and general lack of inspiration! lol
I haven't been able to keep my playing to the level I was at, but am hoping by the end of this year I
will be there once again.
I am going to the Steve Vai Masterclass in Sydney next Saturday, really looking forward to it! If anyone can go,
you should, it's $80.00, but I believe it will be well worth it. It goes for over three hours, he discusses, theory, technique,
practicing, inspiration and the music industry in general. I think he's also doing classes in all the major Cities.
i've been playing for around 3 years now. play a bit of anything, classic rock to metal to blues. mainly what im interested in.
anyhoo my gear:
guitars:
Cort EVL-X4
fender MIM strat
amps:
el cheapo 25w marshal amp
peavy vyper.
Pedals:
busting my ass to afford a decent one lol
usually play on hybrid slinkys.
Sounds like everyone has some really good gear! Put some pictures up Shooter and Crisis!
I also want to see that Tele Parkway! Any issues with the Bugera? What are the cabs like?
I brought a 1960 about 2 years ago, it's good value for money!
I enjoy playing Parkway Drive, I Killed The Prom Queen, anything heavy really but also rock, not too good with technical stuff but I enjoy playing so who cares lol.
From left to right: Ashton AG131 [My first guitar], my mate's dodgy old bass he left me when he joined the army lol, Jackson King V, Hello Kitty Edition Acoustic
I know my amp's a piece of shit but it sounds good, and my study is tiny anyway so it does the job. I used it when I was in a band back in the day and it was louder than my friends' amps. I'd love a stack, though. Or just a bigger amp lol but I can't afford it.
Oh, and my other instrument lol:

1975 Greco Les Paul
Peavey vypyr 100w amp
A few pics then.
First a knobby wallpaper thing I did of my two main guitars, My Single Recto and Marshall cab, My previous pedal board. It has been shrunk down and the Cool Cat Drive and the Bad Monkey pedals have had the flick. It was too big to cart around basically. Last pic my two main guitars again at a gig.
Some pics, sorry didn't realise how bad the camera on my phone was.
My setup Last night, The amp there was custom built to my specifications in the US. I was going from my Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature strat intoa BK Butler Tube Driver(BK Butler Makes pedals for Eric Johnson, David Gilmour, Joe Satriani, Billy Gibbons and many other guitarists) to the amp, pretty simply
The Guitar Safe
Some of my pedals.. I really need to get a pedal board... I also have a Diaz Square Face Fuzz on it's way from the US now
All of my 10 of my Babies.... and a Banjo.. :P
More pictures soon!

Definitely not! Musical instruments outperform any other type of investment. A prime example of this is the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard. An average example usually sells between $300-$500K + with a good example between $500k- $1.5million. This is from an instrument that was originally sold for $265.00 USD and in the 80's was generally being sold for around $4000+ while in the 90's the value had risen to over $80k a piece.
I've been playing on and off for about 18 months, I don't usually stick to one genre of music. I love to play blues though, I spend hours watching BB king and SRV on you tube.
My Gear is EXTREME El-Cheapo,
I have a dodgy fender knock off (it actually says "Fiender" on the head) $80
15w Econ amp $20
and a 3 dollar guitar tuner.
Don't judge me, I'm poor haha
Yeah I love SRV & BB King, I love the blues! In my opinion, SRV is the best guitarist ever. His raw emotion and expression, it is so much more than shredding, although I really love shred stuff, and technical virtuosity I find the expression of SRV much more appealing, although Steve Vai's piece "For The Love of God" is also very expressive and emotional. These guys, the guitar has just became an extension of their body.
No it's great! Keep playing!
My first guitar cost me $65 back in around 1975. It was almost unplayable. Especially compared to the cheap guitars these days. I actually didn’t start taking lessons until I left high school. Mainly because I couldn’t get a decent sound out of it. As I took lessons I realised it was partly my fault and partly the guitars but even when I bought my Washburn my teacher insisted I learn on the piece of crap because it was so hard to play.
I know you are expecting me to say I became a brilliant player due to taking the hard road but the reality is I am a crap player. LOL!
That aside I still rekon I would have been worse had I learnt on an easier guitar.
Stick with it.
Been playing for about 8 years.
Using Marshal Valvestate 120watt amp with Morley wah and boss tuner and delay pedals
Ibanez RT240 (japanese model about 1992) with EMG's
Schecter Demon 6 (also with EMG's)
Play a bit of everything, but mostly machine head, cradle of filth, killswitch engage, children of bodom etc. Still love playin soad, metallica, maiden etc to though
