    Default Honda civic?

    Hi guys,

I have a question concernig a 95 honda civic vti.
The auto has shat its self, so im wondering would a gearbox from a newer or older model fit?
If so what year and what would need modifying?
I'm on a pretty tight budget.

    cheers.

save yourself a headache get a gearbox out of the same model and year. make sure you also check the gearbox and engine is the same code. Honda as a habit of changing little things. i just fitted a gear box to 95 civic gli, after 2 gear boxes we finally got one that had the same bell housing bolt pattern. we fitted it up turn out that this box was out of an civic that had half drive shaft. we thought no problem it should fit. turned out the splines on the joints were to small. so out the box came 3rd time lucky we made sure it was same model number etc.

luckily they are an easy box to R&R

Aslong as you find a D series auto tranny it'll be fine. Try ozhonda.com for parts if u have time, someppl just about give parts away like this as most don't need/want them

    i wouldn't count on it
we used to have a 99 civic and even for something like the timing belt according to the mechanic there were 3 different ones for the same model.

don't know if this is true or not
or whether it was his excuse for ####ing us around

Don't forget to allow 80% of your budget for BBS wheeels and buddyclub coilovers. Essential for any Honda Civic.
