I'm looking at buying a hx 1 tonner, all is in reasonable condition , record motor has done 5000 k's since put in but it doesn't reverse, I'm buying it off my grand parents and they start it every couple weeks to keep it ticking over. It hasn't left there property in over 3 years just driven around the paddock every so often but Since the last time they backed it out of the shed till now something's gone wrong.
You feel it shift into reverse when you move Te shifter but when you release the brake and give it some throttle it doesn't move..
Just wondering if any one has an idea where to look or where to buy parts if they need replacing?
Cheers guys
What box? Trimatic, Aussie 4 speed?
Aussie 4 speeds were famous for problems with the shifter, if its a manual then its almost certain that rebuilding or replacing the shifter will fix it.
If its a traumatic then the problem is much more serious I would say.
Ok so I found the first problem, which is I know jack all about older cars! Lol
But after fiddling around with the car for a bit I tried rolling it in neutral an wouldn't moved, so I pulled the wheels off and pulled the brakes apart and they were seized, cleaned it all out and back together and she's moving! Now I gotta take it for a drive... I shal post up the results soon
